Blades Welcome Bedard and Pats to SaskTel Centre for First Time

October 24, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release

The Saskatoon Blades (5-1-0-0) look to finish off a home-and-home series against Connor Bedard and the Regina Pats (2-6-0-0) with a second straight win over their divisional rivals.

Saskatoon snagged a 5-2 victory in Regina on Friday night, highlighted by Nolan Maier's 37 save performance. That was the Blades third straight win, and sixth consecutive contest claiming points. Saskatoon has also scored at least four goals in each of the last six games, scoring 27 in total over that time.

Regina, meanwhile, enters Saskatoon riding a six-game losing streak and sitting 5th in the East Division with four points.

This is the first time these two will clash at SaskTel Centre since the Blades last home game before the pandemic halted play of the 2019-20 season - a 2-1 overtime thriller ending Saskatoon's way on March 6, 2020.

Who to Watch

Alternate captain Tristen Robins continues to excel in all areas of the junior hockey world. The veteran centre has collected at least two points in all six games he's played, and leads the league in scoring with 15 points (3G-12A) and assists (12). The San Jose Sharks prospect picked up a pair of helpers in Friday's victory in Regina.

Draft-eligible forward Egor Sidorov has lit the lamp in three straight games, including scoring the eventual game-winning goal Friday in Regina. The Belarusian winger was drafted by the Blades in the 1st round of the 2021 CHL Import Draft, and leads the team in rookie scoring with five points (3G-2A).

Alternate captain Kyle Crnkovic stretched his point-streak to seven games Friday night with an assist on Brendan Lee's second-period goal, and leads the team in scoring with six goals.
