
Hitmen Topple Brandon for Third Straight Win

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen came out with a 3-2 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings in a Sunday afternoon match up. This win is their third in a row, improving their record to 3-3-0. `
After a slow start to the game, the Wheat Kings cracked the scoreboard first with a goal from Ridley Greig in the last seconds of the first period. The Hitmen came out swinging in the second period with an equalizer from Anton Yatsyshin 7:43 in. This was Yastsyshin's first of the season and first WHL goal. David Adaszynski followed up with a goal off the back of the skate of Wheat Kings goalie Carson Bjarnason, to put the Hitmen up by one.
With back to back high sticking penalties, Wheat Kings forwards Ridley Greig and Brett Hyland headed to the box for double-minors. The Hitmen wasted no time capitalizing on the two man advantage with Riley Fiddler-Schultz putting up his second of the season. The game remained 3-1 through forty minutes of play.
A shorthanded goal from Zakhar Polshakov 5:47 into the third made the score 3-2, but it wasn't enough as the Hitmen held of the Wheat Kings to secure the win.
Adam Kydd secured the first star, finishing the game with two assists, while Fiddler-Schultz received the second star. Wheat Kings defenceman Matthew Ward was the third star of the game.
The Hitmen return to action at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday October 27th, to face off against the Winnipeg Ice.
