Calgary, AB - The Saskatoon Blades ran their winning streak to four games and their point streak to seven with a 9-3 Thanksgiving Day victory over the Calgary Hitmen on Monday at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
The Blades raced out to a 4-0 first period lead, powered by the first career Western Hockey League hat trick for Eric Florchuk. Tristen Robins tallied a pair of goals with singles from Majid Kaddoura, Chase Wouters, Jayden Wiens and Cyle McNabb on a day where 13 different Blades' recorded at least a point.
Mark Kastelic scored twice in the loss for Calgary with Orca Wiesblatt rounding out the Hitmen attack.
Special teams loomed large for Saskatoon, going 3-6 on the power play while killing all five Calgary chances.
With the win Saskatoon improves to 7-3-0-1 while the Hitmen fall to 4-2-1-0.
Calgary returns to action on Friday, Oct. 18 at home against Moose Jaw. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at the 'Dome.
The Hitmen will then conclude their three-game homestand on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 2:00 p.m. against Medicine Hat. That day is the Diwali Celebration presented by Red FM & Sunday Funday, presented by Ricky's All Day Grill which includes face painters, concourse activities, giveaways and a post-game family skate that is FREE with a game ticket. Sunday Funday features a specially priced $9.99 ticket for kids 12 and under and a $15.99 ticket for adults (plus applicable fees and taxes).
