Brandon, MB. - Applebee's Brandon, in association with the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings are pleased to announce plans for the 2019 Tip a Wheat King Night, scheduled for Wednesday, November 13th.
That night, several members of the hockey club will be turning in their sticks and skates for dinner plates and wine glasses between 4:30 - 8:30 pm.
Leading the Wheat Kings' contingent this season will be captain Connor Gutenburg. A 5-year WHL veteran and last remaining regular from the 2016 Championship team, the 20-year old Brandon product will be joined by forwards Luka Burzan, Cole Reinhardt, Ben McCartney and netminder Jiri Patera.
Joining them will be Jommy Hooker, Ridly Greig, Jonathon Lambos as well as rookies Nolan Ritchie and Jake Chiasson.
In addition to having the opportunity to meet and mingle with members of the WHL club, fans attending the event will have a chance to win some terrific prizes, including Wheat Kings' merchandise and enjoy a number of specials, including Applebee's Wednesday Kids Eat for $2.99 Special.
All tips received on November 13th will be donated to the Western Manitoba Cancer Centre, in recognition of this year's Movember campaign.
"We are excited to be hosting this special night again this year, in support of such a worthy cause," says Applebees manager Devon Jeffery. "This annual event has become somewhat of an Applebees tradition in Brandon and gives us a great opportunity to give back to the community that has always been supportive of us."
The Western Manitoba Cancer Center was developed in joint partnership with Cancer Care Manitoba and Prairie Mountain Health to provide cancer care services to the Western part of Manitoba and Eastern Saskatchewan. The center combines expertise from both organizations with a network of care providers working together to provide cancer treatments closer to home.
The Movember campaign is a global charity committed to men living happier, healthier, longer lives. Since 2003, millions have joined the men's health movement, funding over 1,000 programs.
The Western Manitoba Cancer Center (WMCC) meanwhile opened its doors in July 2011 as a joint venture with Cancer Care Manitoba and Prairie Mountain Health. WMCC is the only Cancer treatment center located outside of Winnipeg that provides radiation therapy treatments and chemotherapy services, and houses the only above ground Radiation treatment unit in the province. Most cases can be treated at WMCC, but there may be some, which require more specialized treatment at Cancercare Manitoba in Winnipeg.
Additional Health Care provider services available at WMCC include Radiation Oncologists, Family Physicians in Oncology (FPO), Dietitian, Social Work, Pharmacist and Nurse Navigator.
For Dinner reservations for the annual event, fans are encouraged to call Applebees Brandon at (204) 727-3019.
On the ice, the Wheat Kings kick off their longest road trip of the season when they face off against the Silvertips in Everett on Wednesday night. Brandon enters the 7-game excursion with a record of 3-5-0.
Tickets to both games are on sale at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling (204) 726-3555 or online at keystonecentre.com.
