Saskatoon Blades News Release
The Saskatoon Blades continued their winning ways by defeating the Medicine Hat Tigers by a score of 5-0. The Blades victory gives them 30 on the season and 17 on the road.
The first goal of the game came from an unlikely source, Teigan Zahn, who recorded his 2nd goal of the season which came at the 4:13 mark of the second period on the power play. The Blades took the 1-0 lead into the third period and faced the task of keeping a lead in the third period, something that they have struggled with recently.
The Blades held the lead and then some as they erupted for 4 goals in the final frame. Milan Kytnar (PP), Travis Toomey, Burke Gallimore, and Derek Hulak all scored in the third period to secure the Blades victory.
Braden Holtby picked up his 4th shutout of the year and 24th win overall. The win also marks Coach Lorne Molleken's 399th win of his illustrious WHL coaching career. The Blades were 2 for 7 on the power play and a perfect 7 for 7 on the penalty kill. The Bridge City Bunch have picked up at least one point in the last 7 games.
The Blades take their league best road record to Lethbridge tomorrow night as they face off against Kyle Beach, Zach Boychuk, and the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Game time is 8 PM Saskatchewan time.
