Tonight:
The Saskatoon Blades (19-14-1-1) are on the hunt to win three in a row, hoping to feast on the Medicine Hat Tigers (7-24-3-1) at SaskTel Centre.
The Blades have won both meetings against the Tigers this season, outscoring their opponent 8-2 in the process.
Coming off a 4-1 victory against the Swift Current Broncos (Jan. 15), Saskatoon is in a deadlock for second place in the East Division heading into tonight. Tied at 40 points with The Moose Jaw Warriors and Brandon Wheat Kings, the race for home-ice advantage is in full swing.
Alternate captain Kyle Crnkovic notched two goals against the Broncos last time out, while fellow alternate Tristen Robins scored his team-leading 10th powerplay goal, and added an apple to the stat sheet as well.
Who to Watch:
San Jose Sharks prospect Tristen Robins has been unstoppable as of late. The Clear Lake, MB native has 12 points in just his last four games and sits second on the team in scoring. Robins put up five assists through two games against Medicine Hat so far this season.
Blades alternate captain Kyle Crnkovic has been lethal against the Tigers this year. In the previous two outings, the 19-year-old forward tucked away a pair of goals in each contest. The former Saskatoon first-round pick also scored two goals against the Broncos at home on Western Night (Jan. 15). Crnkovic is second in league scoring with 50 points and leads his team in goals with 21.
Rosetown, SK's own Vaughn Watterodt scored his first career WHL goal in a 4-1 decision against the Broncos last Saturday. The former Kamloops Blazer forward has jumped to one goal and three assists in 19 games.
Recently acquired defenceman Ryan Nolan is facing off against his former team for the first time since being acquired by the Blades. The 18-year-old from Calgary, AB was picked up via a three-team trade that also involved Prince George in late December.
Pride Night
"Pride Night" will take over SaskTel Centre the following night when the Blades welcome the Winnipeg ICE for a 7:00pm puckdrop. The boys will be sporting custom-themed jerseys during the game, which will be available for auction. Stay tuned for more details on when the auction will go live.
Game Day 50/50
Tonight's Game Day 50/50 is in support of the Saskatoon Blades Education Fund, with sales opening at 9:00am and running until the second intermission.
Saves for Hunger
This season, The Saskatoon Blades have partnered with Nutrien to launch the "Saves for Hunger" Campaign. For every save a Blades netminder makes this season, Nutrien is donating $5 to a local organization. Blades goaltenders have made 1005 saves so far, running the tally up to $5025 raised as the team welcomes Medicine Hat.
