Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced today that forward Matt Auffrey has been reassigned to the club by the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League and that the team has signed defenseman Tim Cook to a contract.
Auffrey returns to the Everblades from a brief two-game stint with the River Rats during which he picked up one assist and two penalty minutes. The 23-year-old began the 2008-09 campaign with the Augusta Lynx of the ECHL where he posted 11 points (4g, 7a) in 18 games. The Everblades signed him to a contract in December and since joining the club he has recorded 12 points (2g, 10a) in 21 games.
Cook joins the Everblades after beginning the season playing in Denmark with Totempo HVIK. After the club folded the 24-year-old signed a standard player contract with the Everblades. As a rookie last season the Montclair, New Jersey native played all 72 regular season games with the Texas Wildcatters notching 16 points (2g, 14a) and 60 penalty minutes and chipped in two assists in nine Kelly Cup Playoff games.
Prior to turning pro Cook completed a four-year career at the University of Michigan where he collected nine points and 133 PIM in 136 career games. In 2003 the 6-foot-4, 190 pound blue-liner was drafted in the fifth round of the NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators.
