Goalie Shantz Gets Second Assignment to Dayton by NHL's Panthers

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers have been assigned goaltender David Shantz ("Sh-ah-ntz") from the NHL's Florida Panthers, Bombers head coach Bill McDonald announced today. In a separate transaction, the Panthers recalled goalie Tyler Plante to their "AAA" affiliate, the Rochester Americans.

Shantz, a 2nd round (#37 overall) selection by the Panthers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, rejoins the Bombers after playing seven games in Dayton at the start of the season. Shantz was 4-2-1 with a 2.35 GAA and .914 save percentage for the Bombers.

The Burlington, Ontario native was then recalled to Rochester, where he played in five games. Most recently, Shantz played 11 games with the Elmira Jackals, where he went 5-4-1 with a 2.88 GAA.

Next up for the Bombers is a meeting with the Reading Royals on Wednesday, February 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Nutter Center. It's "Carload Wednesday", where fans can pack their cars, trucks, vans and buses and everyone gets in for just $30 (Silver level seats only)!
