November 28, 2018 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
The Saskatoon Blades surrendered 4 unanswered goals on Tuesday night in a 5-3 loss to the Vancouver Giants. Now at 1-1 on their B.C. Division road trip, the Blades will travel to Victoria with a 15-9-2-0 record to take on the Royals on Wednesday night.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
It was a fast and furious opening 10 minutes featuring four goals, three of which coming from the visiting Blades. Kirby Dach got things started-- a high, short-side snipe for his 14th of the season. Josh Paterson doubled Saskatoon's lead less than two minutes later with help from Chase Wouters and Gary Haden. Another two minutes later the Giants got on the board and then Max Gerlach finished off a pretty play for his team leading 16th of the year a minute after that making it 3-1 Saskatoon after the first. Kirby Dach and Dawson Davidson assisted.
Vancouver pushed back with two goals in the middle frame from Davis Koch (power play) and Aidan Barfoot. Then import forward Milos Roman scored the eventual game winner on the man advantage 3:21 into the third period. Davis Koch sealed the deal with a late empty netter to give his Giants their 17th win of the season by a score of 5-3. The Giants finished the night 2/3 on the power play; Saskatoon was 0/4.
TURNING POINT
The tying goal early in the second period from Aidan Barfoot-- his first goal of the season-- shifted the momentum in Vancouver's favour.
