Kamloops Blazers News Release
Kamloops, BC - The Kamloops Blazers will be hosting two weekend games with the Valley First Credit Union Food Bank Night on Friday, November 30th against the Saskatoon Blades and the 25th annual Zimmer Auto Group Teddy Bear Toss against the Seattle Thunderbirds on Saturday, December 1st. Both games start at 7:00pm at the Sandman Centre.
On Friday night, bring a non-perishable food item or a cash donation for the Kamloops Food Bank.
Saturday is the 25th annual Zimmer Auto Group Teddy Bear Toss. When the Blazers score their first goal, fans can throw their stuffed animals onto the ice! Fans are also encouraged to bring scarfs, toques, gloves or any other winter wear that would be donated locally.
The Blazers started the teddy bear toss tradition in 1993-94 and now all 22 teams in the WHL host their own teddy bear tosses.
All teddy bears collected will be distributed locally. The Kamloops Blazers will be at Royal Inland Hospital on the evening of Monday, December 3rd to distribute the teddy bears.
The Blazers will play one final home game before the Christmas break on Wednesday, December 5th when they host the Victoria Royals. It is Country Night with Douglas Lake Equipment as the game night sponsor and the Salvation Army will be on the concourse collecting donations for their Christmas Kettle campaign.
The Blazers have also called up 17-year-old goaltender Rayce Ramsay for weekend games. Ramsay will join the Blazers for practice on Thursday.
