Florida Everblades News Release

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (32-24-10) fell to the Greensboro Generals (36-26-1) 6-4 Friday night in front of 6,777 at TECO Arena. Greensboro forward Bryson Busniuk picked up two goals in the win as Greensboro moved to within one point of the Everblades in the Southern Division standings and the Everblades fell to third place in the division with the loss.

Trailing 2-1 entering the third period, Florida looked for the equalizer but it was Greensboro that took control on goals by Mike Bayrack and Bryson Busniuk. The Generals led 4-1 when Everblades forward Brent McDonald slammed home a loose puck in the crease to cut the lead in half 4-2. Joel Irwin put Greensboro back up 5-2 just over two minutes later when his shot from the slot found it's way past Florida goaltender Jeff Maund. Florida pulled to within 5-3 when Reggie Berg found Ryan Brindley driving to the net and Brindley deposited the puck past goaltender Jamie Hodson for his first goal as an Everblade. Matt Chandler's empty netter made it 6-3 but once again Florida forward Chris Thompson's 6th goal of the season made it 6-4 but Florida would not pull any closer.

Greensboro jumped on top in the first period on a shorthanded goal by Matt Turek but Florida responded 18 seconds later when Tom Buckley netted his 6th goal of the year and the score remained tie 1-1 after one period.

In the second period the Generals tallied the lone goal when Bryson Busniuk roofed his second goal of the night and the Generals took a 2-1 lead to the locker room.

Maund stopped 39 of 44 shots. Hodson stopped 34 of 38 shots. Florida finished 2 for 6 on the power play while Greensboro went 0 for 6.
