Trenton Devils News Release

TRENTON, NJ (March 17, 2004) – Some said it was "Do or Die" for the Titans in their two-game series with the Reading Royals this weekend. The Titans showed they weren't dead yet as they held Reading to one goal in a 2-1 victory in front of 6,223 at Sovereign Bank Arena

The game started off with a slow first period with former Royals goaltender Peter Hamerlik facing just five shots. Things picked up mid-way through the second as Cody Rodkowsky came far out of his net in an attempt to beat a streaking Chris Pittman to a loose puck in the Reading zone. It was Pittman who won the race and backhanded the puck into the empty net to put the Titans on the board 1-0.

The Royals were able to answer back as Hamerlik made a mistake of his own. His outlet pass was intercepted by David Masse, who tickled the twine on the power play at 12:03 of the second period to tie the game 1-1.

The Titans took the lead again 1:48 later as Robert Liscak's centering pass went off a Reading defenseman's skate and past Rudkowsky. The Titans and Hamerlik would shut the door for the rest of the game to earn the 2-1 win. With the defeat the Royals are only two points ahead of the Titans for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Northern Division.

The Trenton Titans are a member of the ECHL – America's Premier "AA" Hockey League. The Trenton Titans play at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, NJ. The Titans conclude their series with the Reading Royals on Saturday, March 20 at 7:00pm. If you're interested in tickets, call 609.599.9500.
