Saskatoon Blades News Release
The Saskatoon Blades were unable to sweep the three game series against Brandon, dropping the third game by a score of 4-3 in front of the biggest crowd of the year.
8,422 fans were on hand to witness a game that featured many weird bounces that lead to goals. Milan Kytnar was the first to find the back of the net when his pass from behind the net hit someone in front and fooled the Brandon netminder.
Brandon tied the game up early in the second period before Kytnar scored his 2nd of the game while on the power play to give the Blades a 2-1 lead. The Wheat Kings replied with a power play goal of their own and then scored 16 seconds later to take their first lead of the game.
Brandon widened their lead 38 seconds into the third period when Jay Fehr threw the puck out from behind the net and hit Adam Chorneyko's skate and through the legs of Braden Holtby. Kytnar tallied his 3rd of the night with less than a minute remaining to pull the Blades back within one goal. Late pressure from the Blades was not enough as Andrew Hayes shut the door to seal the Wheat Kings victory.
The Blades next game is Friday night when they travel to Prince Albert to face the Raiders for the first time since January 3rd. The Blades will be seeking their 28th road win, a feat that would tie the WHL record for wins on the road in a single season. The Blades return home the next night, Saturday March 7th to take on Kyle Beach, Zach Boychuk and the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
