Blades Defenceman Radek Kucerik Invited to Czech Republic 2020 World Junior Selection Camp

Saskatoon Blades defenceman Radek Kucerik has been invited to Team Czech Republic's selection camp for the upcoming 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Kucerik will depart Saskatoon on Sunday, December 8th, to attend the Czech National Junior Team's Selection Camp along with 38 other players. He will compete against 11 other defenceman for a spot on the team's final roster.

As the Czech Republic are this year's host of the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship, Kucerik will also be vying for a chance to represent his home nation as they host the tournament in Ostrava and Trinec, Czech Republic, Dec. 26-Jan. 5.

Kucerik was drafted into the Western Hockey League by the Blades at the 2019 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft with the 155th pick in the second round. The Euro import is tied for first in overall scoring by Blades' rookies with seven points (2G-5A) in 23 games played. Kucerik also currently ranks 9th in the WHL for scoring by rookie defencemen.

The 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship begins on Boxing Day when Canada takes on the United States at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT. TSN and RDS, Hockey Canada's official broadcast partners, will air all 31 games at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship, providing wall-to-wall game coverage and analysis throughout the tournament. The tourmanet will wrap up on January 5th with the Gold Medal game.

The Czech Republic National Junior Team has collected 14 medals at IIHF World Junior Championship since 1977, including two gold medals won in 2000 & 2001, as well as five silver & seven bronze*.
