Winnipeg Ice News Release
The Winnipeg Ice took on the Swift Current Broncos at Wayne Fleming Arena for a Wednesday night showdown. The hosts came away with a 4-2 win despite a strong performance by Broncos goalie Isaac Poulter.
It was a relatively quiet first period, with the shots being 8-3 in favor of the ICE. Broncos' goalie Isaac Poulter had multiple big saves in the frame, including a pad save off of an ICE 2 on 0 with 10 seconds left in the period.
Things picked up in the second period as the teams traded goals. The ICE started the scoring through Jakin Smallwood but the lead would be short lived as Raphael Pelletier would respond for the Broncos just two minutes later. The ICE would regain the lead on Jackson Leppard's 8th of the season. The Broncos would again respond two minutes later as Hayden Ostir tied things up heading into the second intermission.
Peyton Krebs scored his first goal of the season in the third period for the GWG after spending the last 6 months recovering from injury. Isaac Johnson scored with 3 minutes left in the third to put an exclamation point on the win as the ICE won their second game in four days.
