Saskatoon Blades News Release
SASKATOON, SK - The Saskatoon Blades Hockey Club and Saskatoon Media Group (SMG) have agreed to new terms on its existing partnership which will make 600 CJWW AM radio the new home for Blades hockey broadcasts for the 2021-22 regular season.
"Saskatoon Media Group is very pleased to continue as the radio partner of the Saskatoon Blades as we enter the 2021-2022 season," stated SMG General Manager Vic Dubois. "CJWW has a tremendous radio signal reaching out across the province giving even more listeners than ever the opportunity to hear Saskatoon Blades play-by-play of all home and away games. We are excited about the upcoming season and invite you to tune in to 600 on your AM Radio dial for the experienced voice of Les Lazaruk bringing you Blades hockey beginning October 1st."
The new agreement recharges the longest-running broadcast partnership for the hockey club in its 57-year history. Veteran play-by-play broadcaster Les Lazaruk will return at the voice of the Blades for his 28th season, and will surpass the 2000 game milestone in January 2022. CJWW Radio will continue to carry broadcasts of every Blades playoff game in spring of 2022.
"We're excited to make the move over to CJWW for this season to increase our reach across the prairies," explained Blades director of business operations, Tyler Wawryk. "Our fans are often on the road themselves going to minor hockey games or working on their farms, or wherever they may be, so this additional range is huge for fans being able to tune in from virtually anywhere in the province."
This agreement is a return to the roots for Blades broadcasts. 600 CJWW airwaves carried the team's first broadcasts when SMG and the Blades reached its first deal in 1994. The team moved to the FM side of the dial in 1999, starting with Hot 93 before making the switch to 92.9 The Bull in 2008, followed by 98 Cool FM in 2018.
Each gameday broadcast will feature an extensive, 30-minute pregame show, hosted by Lazaruk, along with a post-game recap featuring live interviews, expert analysis, and behind-the-scenes insight of the team.
Fans can catch every game, home and away, live on 600 CJWW radio as well as on CJWWRadio.com and on the Saskatoon Blades Official App. Game broadcasts will also be featured on WHL Live broadcasts all season long. CJWW Radio will also continue to be the home of the Saskatoon Blades official team podcast, Blades Uncut.
2021-22 season ticket memberships are now on sale for as low as $17 per game for adults, and $5 for children. Single-game tickets are also now on sale, and can be found HERE for purchase.
