Florida Everblades News Release

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced today the team has signed defenseman Craig Switzer to a contract for the 2008-09 season.

Switzer's signing pushes the Everblades roster to 21 three days before training camp opens. The Peachland, British Columbia native wrapped up a four-year collegiate career at the University of New Hampshire by posting 20 points (6g, 14a) in 38 games last season. Switzer, who turns 24 on October 16, helped lead the Wildcats to two Hockey East title games during his tenure as well as an appearance in the NCAA Tournament in each of his four years.

"Craig is another good solid well-rounded defenseman that we're happy to be bringing to Florida." Cameron said. "He proved to be a solid college defenseman at UNH. What we really liked about him is that he does the little things extremely well. He moves the puck well, brings leadership to our club and we expect him to log a lot of minutes for us this season."

A 9th round draft pick by the Nashville Predators in 2004, Switzer skated in 158 consecutive games over his four-year career with UNH, which is tied for the school record. Prior to playing in the college ranks the 6-foot-1, 200 pound blue liner played two seasons in the British Columbia Hockey League with Salmon Arm where he scored 80 points in 113 games from 2002-2004.
