RoadRunners Training Camp Opens Friday

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners, a proud affiliate of the San Jose Sharks and the Worcester Sharks, will commence their fourth season as a member of the ECHL at 9:00 a.m. Friday with their first on-ice workout at the Polar Ice Center in Peoria.
In preparation for the 2008-09 season and the season opener on Friday, Oct. 17 at home against the Victoria Salmon Kings, the RoadRunners will host a portion of their training camp in Southwest Florida and will face-off against the Florida Everblades in a two-game pre-season series at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 10 and 11 at Germain Arena in Estero, Fla.
The RoadRunners training camp schedule through Oct. 16 is listed below. All practices during training camp are open to the public and the media. The Polar Ice Center is located at 15829 N 83rd Avenue in Peoria.
The RoadRunners would like to extend an invitation to all members of the media to join Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Church, Assistant Coach Brian O'Leary, and members of the 2008-09 team from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at US Airways Center for Media Day. Media Day will take place at the Phoenix Suns Practice Court, which is located on the event level of US Airways Center across from the RoadRunners locker room.
The RoadRunners currently have 25 players who will be attending training camp. Players under contract include forwards Josh Bonar, Mitch Carefoot, Wes Clark, Kimbi Daniels, Dan DaSilva, Andrew Desjardins, Bryan Esner, Gino Guyer, James McEwan, Stephen Peat, Daniel Sisca, Peder Skinner, Chris Stevens, and Geoff Walker; defenseman Andrew Andricopoulos, Matt Burke, T.J. Campbell, Rob Dmytruk, Bryan Nathe, Tom Sawatske, and Brett Thurston; and goaltender Paulo Colaiacovo.
The RoadRunners have also signed forward Colin Sinclair and goalies Ryan Daniels and Reto Schurch to try-out agreements.
The RoadRunners open their fourth ECHL season Oct. 17 when they welcome the Victoria Salmon Kings to US Airways Center for a three-game Opening Weekend series.
