STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder has announced a package of expanded multimedia, highlighted by enhanced podcasting and cell phone text-messaging options to serve fans and website visitors to the Thunder official website, www.StocktonThunder.com.
The Thunder, in partnership with KXTV News10 (ABC), will provide text message alerts of final scores for Thunder games. In addition, the Thunder and the groundbreaking social networking website, Twitter.com, are connecting Thunder fans direct to the team and front office through an innovative text messaging service.
Additionally, fans can use their iPod or other mp3 device to follow the Thunder starting this season with enhanced audio features, game highlights, interviews and updated breaking news at the audio section of StocktonThunder.com.
FINAL SCORE TEXT MESSAGE ALERTS
Starting this season, the Thunder and News10 are partnering to provide hockey fans a chance to always know the final score of each Thunder game right when the final horn sounds. By signing up at the News10 website, www.news10.net, fans will receive a text message delivered to their cell phone, of the final score of each Thunder regular season and Kelly Cup Playoff game at the conclusion of the game.
News10.com mobile alerts are free, though standard text messaging fees from your cell phone service provider may apply.
CONNECT DEEPER WITH THE THUNDER AND FELLOW FANS THROUGH TWITTER
The innovative social networking website www.Twitter.com is partnering with the Thunder to provide fans an opportunity to connect more on an up-close-and-personal basis with the team and fellow fans by offering the chance to communicate online and through text messages on your cell phone. By signing up for free through the Thunder website, you'll get behind-the-scenes access to the team, a new way to communicate with your fellow fans and more.
Fans now have the opportunity to hear the latest news from the Thunder front office, what's happening behind-the-scenes a road trip and get the chance to talk hockey with fellow Thunder fans in real-time fashion. Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co-workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: "What are you doing?"
THUNDER WEBSITE EHANCES PODCASTING FEATURES
Starting this regular season, Thunder fans can use their iPod or mp3 device to help keep up with the latest on the Thunder. By synchronizing their digital music device to StocktonThunder.com via iTunes, fans can automatically download game highlights following the conclusion of each Thunder game, one-on-one interviews, breaking news and in-depth features hosted by Thunder radio play-by-play broadcaster Mike Benton.
Fans can register for the free service by visiting the multimedia of StocktonThunder.com and following subscription instructions on receiving the downloads direct to their iTunes program or any other podcasting service as audio elements are posted to the Thunder website.
Thunder players hit the ice for the first time during training camp on Monday, Oct. 6, proceeded by "FanFest" at 5:30 p.m. from Stockton Arena, free-of-charge to the general public. The preseason schedule launches on Thursday, Oct. 9 when the Thunder faces the Fresno Falcons, starting at 7:00 p.m. from Stockton Arena. Stockton and Fresno will meet 10 times during the 2008-09 regular season, beginning with "Opening Night" on Saturday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m. from Stockton Arena.
The proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, the Thunder was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of the San Joaquin Magazine, has led the ECHL in attendance for three consecutive seasons and drew 239,337 fans to Stockton Arena in 2007-08.
