Blackhawks Recall Wisniewski, Reassign Caron to Admirals; Admirals Release Ayers

CHICAGO, Illinois - Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced Tuesday that Chicago has recalled defenseman James Wisniewski from Norfolk and has re-assigned goaltender Sebastien Caron to the Admirals. In addition, Admirals General Manager Al MacIsaac announced today that goaltender Mike Ayers has been released from a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO).

Wisniewski, 22, is a 5'11", 197 lb. center from Canton, MI. He has appeared in ten games for the Admirals this season registering six assists, eight penalty minutes and a +5 rating. He had been recalled on November 10th as a precautionary measure and did not appear in a game for the Blackhawks.

Wisniewski made his NHL debut with the Blackhawks last February and appeared in 19 games in 2005-06, posting two goals, five assists and 36 penalty minutes. He was drafted by Chicago in the fifth round (156th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Wisniewski began his professional career with the Admirals during the 2004-05 season. In parts of three seasons with Norfolk, he has played 137 games, scoring 14 goals and 52 assists with 185 penalty minutes. He is ranked second among defensemen in points all-time in Norfolk Admirals history with 66.

Caron, 26, is a 6'1", 170 lb. goaltender from Amqui, Québec. He was recalled to Chicago from Norfolk on October 22. He stopped 24 of 25 shots on November 10 and picked up a 3-1 victory against St. Louis in his only appearance with the Blackhawks. He has also appeared in three games with the Admirals this season posting a 2-1-0 record with a 3.65 goals against average (GAA) and a .857 save percentage.

In his career, Caron has appeared in 91 NHL games with the Blackhawks and Pittsburgh Penguins posting a record of 25 wins, 47 losses, 7 ties and 5 overtime losses while notching a 3.46 GAA. He was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fourth round (86th overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

Ayers, 26, is a 5'11", 185 lb. goalie from Hingham, MA. He appeared in two games with the Admirals, posting a 3.86 GAA and a .913 save percentage without a decision.

The Admirals return to Scope on Friday and Saturday for a pair of contests against their East Division rivals, the Binghamton Senators. Friday is Military Appreciation Night with special $7 Red-Level tickets available to active duty military, retired personnel, and reservists with military ID. On Saturday, the Admirals have a matinee matchup with the Senators at 2:30 p.m. Following the game, fans are invited to participate in a Post-Game Skate with the Admirals.
