
Blackhawks recall Thornton

The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have recalled forward Shawn Thornton from the Norfolk Admirals and have assigned defenseman Michal Barinka to Norfolk in the AHL.
This will be Shawn Thornton's third tour of duty with the Blackhawks this season. He has played in 7 games and has 23 minutes in penalties. At Norfolk this season, Thornton has appeared in 58 games scoring 5 goals and adding 11 assists for 16 points with 247 penalty minutes.
Barinka, 19, was the Blackhawks' 2nd round pick (59th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft from the Czech Republic. He appeared in 9 games for the Blackhawks this season and had one assist with 6 penalty minutes. He has played in 37 games for the Norfolk Admirals this season and scored 4 goals and 6 points with 78 penalty minutes. He also represented the Czech Republic in this year's World Junior Championships where he appeared in 5 games scoring 1 goal and 2 points.
