Danis shuts out Roadrunners in debut

TORONTO, ON Ð Bulldogs goaltender Jann Danis posted a shutout in his first AHL start and led Hamilton to a 3-0 victory over the Toronto Roadrunners at the Ricoh Coliseum on Sunday. Denis stopped all 22 shots to earn his first AHL victory.

The Bulldogs remain in first place in the AHLÕs North Division with 90 points on a record of 38 wins, 23 losses, 10 ties and 4 overtime losses.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring at the 14:44 mark of the first period when Jonathan Ferland scored a wrap-around goal. Gordie Dwyer picked up an assist on the play.

Tomas Plekanec made it 2-0 just 1:04 into the second period when he raced down the left wing and put a low slap shot past the blocker of Roadrunners goaltender Tyler Moss. Assists were later added to Jean-Philippe Cote and Marcel Hossa.

Bulldogs captain Benoit Gratton finished the scoring by re-directing a Patrick Traverse shot into the RoadrunnersÕz goal. GrattonÕs goal came at 14:43 of the third period.

On special teams the Bulldogs were 0 for 4 on the power play, while the Roadrunners were 0 for 1 with the man-advantage.

Notes: The Bulldogs have now earned 90 or more points in four of their eight seasons in the Steel City É the Bulldogs regular season record versus the Roadrunners finished at three wins, eight losses and one tie É defenceman Andrew Archer was assigned to the Columbus Cottonmouths on Saturday.
