Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa-The Waterloo Black Hawks organization was honored as the 2009 Business of the Year Wednesday by the Waterloo Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Cedar Falls Tourism and Visitors Bureau.
The 5th Annual Tourism Month Awards Luncheon was held at the Waterloo Center for the Arts.
"It's not hard to buy into the passion of Black Hawks fans, because Partytown is always rocking," said Aaron Buzza, Executive Director of the Waterloo Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The Black Hawks were previously recognized as a Waterloo Friend of Tourism in 2006. Last season, the Hawks set a franchise record for attendance with 94,966 fans at 30 home games in Young Arena. It was the seventh consecutive year the organization has posted a new attendance record.
Black Hawks General Manager Doug Miller, while accepting the award, thanked those at the luncheon and Black Hawk fans for making the community a place where talented junior players want to be.
"We have families that come here from all over the country," Miller said, "they love it here and are thrilled that they get to be part of the Cedar Valley for nine months."
The Black Hawks begin a new campaign in October. Season tickets for 2009-2010 are on sale now; for more information call the Hawks at (319) 232-3444.
