TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Bisons host the Indianapolis in the third game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd was victorious last night over the Indians, 6-4. Buffalo is 3-3 so far on an eight-game homestand that began with a four-game split with Lehigh Valley. After Sunday, the Bisons will travel to Gwinnett for the start of an eight-game roadtrip.
vs. THE INDIANS: The Bisons trail the Indians 4-2 in the season series. Indy won a four-game set over the Herd at Victory Field, May 6-9. The Bisons haven't won a four-game set over the Indians since they took three of four at Indy from June 28 - July 1, 2004. Since then, the Herd has five splits and six series losses to Indianapolis (16-28 record).
THIRD TIME'S THE CHARM: OF VALENTINO PASCUCCI snapped an 0-13 skid at the plate last night in a big way. The Bisons' slugger belted three home runs for the Herd, including a monster three-run shot that cleared the 60-foot tall left-field screen. It is the first three-homer game for the Buffalo since C DUSTY WATHAN touched all the bags three times on June 2, 2005 and it is only the third time the feat has been accomplished in the history of Coca-Cola Field. Pascucci now has 200 homeruns in his minor league career, ninth on the active list.
GEE-MAN: With RHP DILLON GEE has been a difference maker for Buffalo this season. The team is 9-4 (.692) is his starts, tied with LHP PAT MISCH for the best record on the team. The righty also leads the ballclub in wins (6) and strikeouts (68), holds a share of the lead in starts (13) and is second on the team in quality starts (7).
TEARIN' IT UP: C JOSH THOLE has been on fire over the last week. In seven games, the catcher is batting .440 (11-25) with four doubles, a homer, three RBI and four runs scored. His on-base percentage over the span is .500 and his slugging percentage is .720. Thole is currently on a five-game hit streak where his numbers are even better. The Bisons' hitter is batting .529 (9-17) with a .600 on-base-percentage and .882 slugging percentage over the past five contests.
METS UPDATE: The Mets (39-28) defeated the cross-town rival Yankees last night, 4-0. New York has now won eight straight games and are only a half game behind the Braves in the N.L. East. LHP HISANORI TAKAHASHI threw six shutout innings for win number six on the season. The Mets and Yankees will continue their Subway Series throughout the weekend, with the finale on Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
