Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Pawtucket Red Sox in the third game of a four-game series from McCoy Stadium (7:05 p.m.). The Herd tied the series at one on Sunday with their first win at McCoy Stadium this season, 9-5. RHP Jeremy Guthrie will get the start tonight looking to build off his dominating performance last Wednesday. Guthrie threw a complete-game one-hitter in a 3-1 victory over the Bats. The PawSox will counter with LHP Abe Alvarez, who defeated Toledo on July 26 with five innings of three-run ball.

FAMILIAR FOES: Buffalo will play 31 of their final 35 games against teams in the International League North. At 29-20, the Herd has the best divisional record in the North.
OVER-POWERING: Jeremy Guthrie is coming off his best start in his Bisons career. Guthrie allowed just one first-inning hit in a nine-inning complete game one-hitter against Louisville last Wednesday. He struck out seven and retired the Bats in order in seven of the nine innings. He closed out the 109-pitch masterpiece by setting down the final 15 batters he faced.
DOUBLE DUBY: Jason Dubois homered twice yesterday, the second time he's accomplished the feat this year. He also went deep twice on July 22 against Syracuse. Dubois now leads the Bisons with 16 home runs (T8th in the International League) and 68RBI (4th in the IL). The slugger has driven in 17 runs in the last 11 games.
STANDING TOUGH: Bisons batters were hit by a pitch five times last night, including Lou Merloni twice. With 62 plunks endured this season, Herd hitters have gone through more painful at-bats than any team in the International League (league average 42.7 HBP/team). Not in the lineup yesterday, Ryan Garko (19) has been hit five more times than any player in the IL.
SETTING THE TABLE: Bisons 1-2 hitters Franklin Gutierrez and Ben Francisco, have been getting on base without having to swing the bat. The two have combined to draw nine walks in the past two games. Francisco drew a Herd season-high four on Saturday night while Gutierrez earned three free passes yesterday.
HOMER TEAM: With two solo shots from Jason Dubois yesterday, the Bisons kept pace with Toledo on the International League home run charts. Buffalo has 105 blasts on the season, behind only the Mud Hens' 112.
