
Pena home run gives Braves win

RICHMOND, VA- The Richmond Braves beat the Norfolk Tides 4-3 in 10 innings at The Diamond Monday. Brayan Pena launched a solo home run in the 10th to snap an eight game Richmond losing streak.
Pena singled a run home in the first to give Richmond a 1-0 lead. The Tides tied the game in the third on an RBI single by Jose Offerman. Richmond went back up in the fifth when Gregor Blanco chased a run home with a single. Norfolk tied the game at two in the sixth on a run scoring single by Michael Tucker. Pena knocked in his second run of the game in the eighth on a sacrifice fly to give the Braves a 3-2 lead. The Tides forced extra innings with a run in the ninth on another RBI single by Offerman. Pena's walk off home run in the 10th was his first Triple-A homer.
Will Startup picked up the win. Royce Ring took the loss. Jonathan Schuerholz had three hits for the Braves. Offerman and Ruben Gotay had two hits each for the Tides.
The Braves and Tides meet again at The Diamond Tuesday at 7 PM. Brian O'Connor will pitch for the Braves against Willie Collazo. The first 2,500 fans will receive magnet frames courtesy of Smithfield Foods and 96.5 The Planet. For more information please call 359-4444.
