TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees in the second game of a two-game series at Dunn Tire Park (6:05pm). The Herd is looking for their second consecutive two-game sweep of a divisional opponent thanks to a 5-2 victory over the Yanks last night. This eight-game in nine-day homestand began with a two-game sweep of the Pawtucket Red Sox over the weekend. On the mound tonight will be RHP Matt Ginter. The veteran pitched five solid innings in relief on Thursday in Scranton/WB but picked up the loss (4H, 3R, 3ER, 2K). The Yanks will counter with RHP Dan Giese.
THE WAY TO START: In the last 10 games, Bisons starting pitchers have combined to go 3-2 with a 1.63ERA. The group has allowed just nine earned runs in 49.2 innings of work. Even more impressive are the group's 44 strikeouts to only 42 hits allowed. On the season, Bisons starters have a 3.43ERA in 128.2 innings of work.
HOME SWEET HOME: Outfielder Ben Francisco is very comfortable in front of the home town fans. Francisco had three hits last night and now has the 5th most hits ever in Dunn Tire Park (153). In his career, Francisco has hit .323 in the downtown ballpark, the third highest mark for a career (Kevin Young, .334).
UN-COOPED: Outfielder Jason Cooper joined elite company with his two doubles last night. Cooper is one of only four Bisons player to collect 70 doubles in the Modern Era. The group is led by Buffalo Baseball Hall of Famer Bill Selby (90), followed by Brandon Phillips (79) and Greg LaRocca (73). Cooper also ranks 5th in games played (328) and RBI (187), 6th in walks (131), T7th in runs scored (172) and T10th in homeruns (10).
BISONS BITS: This is the Bisons first three-game winning streak of the season...The Bisons are a perfect 12-12 stealing bases over the last 7 games. OF Jason Tyner leads the team with 5 steals.
