Durham, NC - The Durham Bulls beat the Richmond Braves 4-0 Tuesday at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Three Bulls pitchers combined to blank the Braves on six hits as the Braves were blanked for the second time this season.
The Bulls generated all the offense they would need with two runs in the first inning on a two-run double by Justin Ruggiano. Reid Brignac knocked in a run with a single in the third to stretch the Bulls lead to 3-0. Durham tacked on one more run in the fifth on an RBI double by Brignac.
Chris Mason struck out eight in 5.2 innings to earn the win. Nick DeBarr and Dale Thayer combined for 3.1 innings of hitless relief. Jo-Jo Reyes took the loss. Brignac had three hits to lead the Bulls. Brandon Jones had two hits for Richmond.
The Braves and Bulls conclude their three game series at 11:05 AM Wednesday. Mike Hampton makes his second rehab start for Richmond vs. Mitch Talbot.
