TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons host the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the first game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.). The Bisons are 2-3 so far on their first homestand of the 2012 season. The Herd is coming off a two-game split with Pawtucket.
vs. IRONPIGS: The IronPigs won the season series over the Bisons in 2011 with nine wins in 16 games. However, since Lehigh Valley joined the International League in 2008, the Bisons have the 18-14 edge in games played at Coca-Cola Field. Last year, the clubs split each four-game series in Buffalo.

The 22-year old collected his first Triple-A victory in the Bisons Home Opener on Wednesday against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. TIPPIN' THE SCALES: INF BOBBY SCALES has reached base at least twice in all eight games he's started in 2012. His .448 average is 19 points higher than any other International League hitter. He also tops the league with a .556 on-base percentage and ranks 5th with a .690 slugging percentage.
LOEW & BEHOLD: OF ADAM LOEWEN homered twice and drove home six in yesterday's win. The last six-RBI performance by a Bison came courtesy of INF VALENTINO PASCUCCI on May 10, 2011 against the Yankees. The two-homer game was the Bisons' second this year (INF ZACH LUTZ, 4/11 vSWB). Loewen's first professional grand slam was Buffalo's first slam since INF LUIS HERNANDEZ on June 9, 2011 vs. Indianapolis.
BISONS BITS: RHP JACK EGBERT has allowed just two hits in seven shutout innings to begin 2012 (four appearances)...OF VINNY ROTTINO has three consecutive multi-hit performances. He has seven hits in his last 15 at-bats (.467)...Bisons pitchers will have to bat for the first time this season. The Herd's next 10 games are against National League-affiliated clubs. The last Bisons pitcher to homer was RHP JOHN HOPE on August 6, 1994 vs. Indianapolis.
METS UPDATE : The Mets (6-3) lost to the Phillies yesterday by an 8-2 score. Still, New York took two of three from their closest rival. Former Bison INF IKE DAVIS hit his first home run of the season in the loss. New York is just a half-game out of first in the National league East.
