TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Durham Bulls in the finale of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.). The Herd is 3-4 during their eight-game homestand that ends tonight. The Bisons will begin a five-game roadtrip tomorrow against Syracuse and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
vs. BULLS: The Bisons are winless in seven games against Durham this season. The Bulls swept a four-game set in Durham, June 22-25. Buffalo has lost nine straight to the Bulls dating back to 2011. The Bisons have a 32-27 (.542) edge over the Bulls at Coca-Cola Field.
McHUGH : RHP COLLIN McHUGH takes the mound tonight for his fourth start with the Bisons. The righty is coming off a no-decision in his only start at Coca-Cola Field this season, June 28 against Louisville (4.0IP, 2ER, 4K). Overall, he is 0-2 with a 7.07ERA and 15K in 14.0 innings of work for the Herd.
STEALS: INF JORDANY VALDESPIN doubled his season stolen base total after stealing four in last night's contest. Valdespin is the first Bison to swipe four bags since July 2, 1989 (Albert Hall) and the first player to reach the feat at Coca-Cola Field. Fred Lewis also stole his team-high 15th base last night. The five steals in one game are the most since Buffalo stole six on May 1, 2007 at Syracuse (Franklin Gutierrez 2, Trent Durrington 2, Brad Snyder, Joe Inglett).
J-ROD: INF JOSH RODRIGUEZ has hit in nine of his first ten games with the Bisons, including five multi-hit efforts. Combined with his 57 games with Binghamton (AA), Rodriguez is hitting .305 (78-256) with eight home runs, 35RBI and 38 runs scored.
JULY 3RD: Tonight is the 18th Annual KeyBank Independence Eve Celebration with a post game concert by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra & Chorus. Since its first year in 1995, the Bisons are 6-11 in July 3rd games. The team has lost five straight, having not won since a 7-1 win over Rochester in 2006.
BISON BITS: LHP JOSH EDGIN has not allowed a run in his last seven games (7.1IP, 4H, 9K)...Since joining the Herd on June 3, RHP MANNY ACOSTA has a 1.08ERA in 16.2 innings of work (13H, 2ER, 18K)... OF FRED LEWIS is 10th in the International League with a .301 batting average.
METS UPDATE : The Mets (43-37) were off yesterday. New York will begin a three-game series with division rival Philadelphia tonight from Citi Field (7:10 p.m.). Former Bisons LHP JON NIESE will take the mound for the Mets. INF DAVID WRIGHT is tied for second in the National League with a .354 batting average.
