TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees in the third game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). The Bisons won on Thursday night, 6-2, with the Yankees rebounding last night, 8-7. The Herd is now 5-5 in its historic 16-game stretch at Coca-Cola Field. The Bisons will host Columbus starting on Tuesday.
NO QUITE HOME: Today's game is the third of six contests this year where the Bisons will serve as the road team at Coca-Cola Field against the Yankees. Along with this four-game series, the Herd will be the "road" team August 20-21 in Buffalo. The Bisons will bat first in each of these games.
vs. YANKEES: The Bisons are 2-3 against the Yankees this season. The Herd opened its 2012 home schedule against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, April 11-13, with the Yanks taking two of three from Buffalo. The Bisons are just 4-9 against the Yankees dating back to last season.
OLE: LHP GARRETT OLSON will make his 10th start and 11th appearance for the Bisons this season. The southpaw is coming off a 4.0-inning no-decision to Indianapolis on Monday. Olson allowed five earned runs in that start, the only game he has yielded more than three earned runs this season.
SILKY: INF JOSH SATIN had a single and three walks last night to continue his amazing stretch of getting on base. In his last seven games, Satin has reached safely 21 times. Since the game last Friday, the infielder has nine singles and has drawn 12 walks. The week has raised his season batting average 15 points from .265 to .280 and his on-base percentage 63 points from .305 to .368.
BULLPEN NOTES: RHP ELVIN RAMIREZ has allowed just three hits in eight scoreless appearances to begin his Triple-A career (10.2IP, 12K)...LHP CHUCK JAMES has pitched three scoreless innings in back-to-back appearances, May 20 vs. Indianapolis and last night.
ROSTER MOVE: RHP JACK EGBERT had his contract purchased by the Mets yesterday. He was 2-3 with a 2.08ERA in 17 starts for the Herd...RHP PEDRO BEATO began his MLB injury rehab assignment with the Herd on Friday and allowed a home run and induced a groundout.
METS UPDATE : The Mets' (25-21) defeated San Diego, 6-1, last night at Citi Field. Former Bisons RHP DILLON GEE struck out a career-high nine batters and also hit a double. OF LUCAS DUDA added his fifth home run of the season in the win. Game three of the Mets four-game series with the Padres is today at 1:10 p.m.
