Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons take on the Norfolk Tides in the first game of a three-game series at Harbor Park (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of the Bulls in Durham to begin this roadtrip. Buffalo is 3-8 in their last 11 games.
vs. the Tides
The Bisons and Tides split a four-game series in Buffalo last week. The Herd is 44-24 all time at Harbor Park, good for a .647 winning pct. The Bisons won three of four in Norfolk last year in taking the season series, 3-1. These three games are the final contests between Buffalo and the Tides this regular season.
Scott Copeland
RHP SCOTT COPELAND returns to the mound for the Bisons after making his MLB debut with Toronto last weekend. The righty pitched in a pair of games for the Blue Jays in Cleveland, throwing 3.0 scoreless innings in relief. Copeland's 1.44 ERA with Buffalo is the 3rd best mark in the International League while his .148 average against leads all qualifying IL pitchers.
Matt Hague
INF MATT HAGUE'S eight-game hit streak is tied for the 5th longest active streak in the IL. The veteran has averaged .290 (9-31) since April 29 with two doubles, four RBI and three runs scored. Hague leads all active Bisons with 30 hits, five doubles, 12 walks and .410 on-base pct.
Steve Tolleson
INF STEVE TOLLESON signed a minor league deal with the Blue Jays yesterday and was activated to the Herd. Tolleson hit .200 (3-15) with two RBI in seven games with the Blue Jays this year before being designated for assignment April 24 and electing free agency.
Arms Race
The Bisons boast the best pitching staff in the International League. The club's 2.66 ERA is the lowest in the league and the staff has also walked the fewest walks (66). RHP RANDY WOLF (1.24) and RHP SCOTT COPELAND (1.44) rank 1st and 3rd in the IL in ERA.
Home Run Drought
The Bisons have just one Triple-A home run this year on their roster, belonging to INF MATT HAGUE. Buffalo has not hit a home run in 386 at-bats, a stretch that goes back to April 25...
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (14-15) were off on Thursday after completing a 2-1 series win over the Yankees. Toronto is now 4.0 games back of New York in the A.L. East. Toronto opens up a three-game series with Boston tonight (7:07 p.m.) with former Bison RHP Aaron Sanchez on the mound.
