TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons square off with the Indianapolis Indians in the finale of a four-game series from Victory Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is 2-5 so far on this eight-game roadtrip that began with a series loss in Louisville. Buffalo is off tomorrow and returns home on Thursday for four games against the Syracuse Chiefs.
vs. INDIANS: The Bisons are 2-5 against the Indians this season. The Herd lost by a score of 6-2 last night and is now just 10-21 in their last 31 games at Victory Field. Overall, Buffalo is 57-61 (.483) against Indy since the Bisons returned to the International League in 1998.
McHUGH: RHP COLLIN McHUGH takes the mound for his ninth start of the season. The righty is coming off his best start of the year after tossing 6.2 shutout innings in Louisville on July 25 (5H, BB, 6K). McHugh has registered three consecutive quality starts (7/15 @PAW, 7/20 vCHA, 7/25 @LOU). In those outings, the righty is 0-1 with a 2.89ERA and 18K in 18.2 innings.
NICKEAS: C MIKE NICKEAS went 4-4 with a double in the loss last night. It is the first four-hit performance of his professional career. Nickeas joined the Bisons on July 27. In 42 games with the New York Mets this season, the catcher hit .168 (17-101) with three doubles and 13RBI. In 60 games with the Bisons in 2011, he batted .214 (36-168) with nine doubles and 15RBI.
LEWIS: OF FRED LEWIS filled the stat sheet last night, going 2-3 with a run scored, a double, a triple, an RBI, and two base on balls. He currently leads the Herd in batting average (.296), runs scored (58), doubles (19), triples (7), total bases (149), and stolen bases (18). He is also second on the team in hits (92). In his last five games, Lewis is hitting .400 (8-20) with four walks.
BISONS BITS: OF LUCAS DUDA went 2-5 with an RBI in last night's contest. It is his first multi-hit performance since joining the Herd on July 25...In his first start since June 9, RHP JENRRY MEJIA allowed just one earned run and struck out three in 3.0 innings of work. He also singled in his only at bat...INF JOSH SATIN is third in the IL with a .395 on-base percentage.
METS UPDATE : The Mets (50-53) defeated the Giants last night in 10 innings, 8-7. Former Bisons LHP JOSH EDGIN picked up his first MLB win while RHP MANNY ACOSTA notched the save. The Mets continue their four-game set in San Francisco tonight (10:15 p.m.) as RHP MATT HARVEY takes the hill for his second career MLB start.
