Bruney to Make Rehab Start Today with Charlotte

(Fort Mill, SC) - RHP Brian Bruney, who began the season with the Charlotte Knights and posted a 1-3 record with 11 saves and a 1.85 ERA in 23 games, will begin a Major League rehab assignment today and start for the Charlotte Knights as they host the Gwinnett Braves in the finale of a four-game series from Knights Stadium. Gates are set to open at 11:00 a.m. and first pitch is scheduled for 12:15 p.m.

Bruney, 30, had his contract purchased by Chicago on June 22 and made one appearance for the White Sox on June 24. On that day, the Oregon native tossed one scoreless inning out of the bullpen and earned his first Major League win of the 2012 season. He was then placed on the DL with left hip inflammation on June 29 (retroactive to June 25).

In 273 career Major League games, Bruney is 19-12 with a 4.68 ERA and 13 saves.

Also on Tuesday, Charlotte outfielder Greg Golson was activated off the disabled list. Golson is hitting .277 with four home runs, 37 RBIs, 49 runs scored and 18 stolen bases.
