Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

The IronPigs (59-52) play the finale of a five-game series against the fifth-place Syracuse Chiefs (53-57) at Alliance Bank Stadium... With a 3-2 loss last night, the Pigs have dropped 10 of their last 15 contests and have gone just 9-17 in their last 26 games --- going from a season-high 3.0-games up to 3.0-games back in the North... The Chiefs -- Washington's top affiliate -- have won six of their last eight games and are 9-5 in their last 14 affairs after losing nine straight games July 5-17. Since climbing to 43-38 on June 28, Syracuse is still just 10-19 since.

LHP Tom Cochran (5-4, 4.28) will start for LHV against RHP Austin Bibens-Dirkx (0-2, 4.93).

First-pitch is at noon... The Pigs next play six straight games against Pawtucket, beginning with a two-game, home series starting Wednesday.

THE PIGS NEED A WIN TODAY TO AVOID...:

* Falling to just 6 games above .500 for the first time since 6/5, when they were 32-26 (a span of 54 games)....

* Their worst month since August 2010 (11-19)... a win would match their worst month in 2012, when they went 14-17 in August.

TRIED TO MAKE ME GO TO REHAB, I SAID "NO, NO, NO!"...:

The 2 Nationals on ML rehabs, OF Jayson Werth (wrist) and 1B Chad Tracy (abductor) are a combined .611-1-6 (11-18, 2 2B, 6 R, 3 BB) -- slugging .889 with a .667 OBP... Meanwhile, former IronPig 3B Carlos Rivero is 6-10, 2B, 2 HR, 7 RBI and 3 R in 3 G.
