Buffalo Bisons News Release

TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons host the Charlotte Knights in the final game of a four-game series from Dunn Tire Park (7:35 p.m.). Buffalo is looking for the split of the set after winning 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth inning yesterday afternoon. On the mound tonight for the Herd will be LHP John Koronka. The southpaw fell to Syracuse in the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday (5.0IP, 6H, 5R, 3ER, 3BB, 3K). The Knights will counter with RHP Nick Masset.

PACK YOUR BAGS: Tonight's game wraps up a nine-game in eight-day homestand for the Herd. Buffalo has used a .293 (68-232) batting average to win five of the first eight games. After tonight, the Herd will play 11 road games over the next 10 days. The key series will be a five-game in four-day set against first place Scranton/WB, August 3-6.

GO NORTH: After tonight's game, the Bisons' final 38 games will be against International League North division teams. The Herd is currently 2.5 games behind Scranton/WB but their 27-15 record within the IL North is the best among the six teams.

PATIENT HERD: The Bisons drew nine walks yesterday, eight of which came in the final four innings of the game. Their winning rally in the ninth was started by base on balls drawn by Luis Rivas, Ryan Mulhern and Keith Ginter. As a team, the Herd has walked 373 times, fourth most in the IL. Ginter leads the team with 51 free passes (T7th in the IL).

HOT HITTER: Infielder Luis Rivas is on an eight game hitting streak. Since July 19, Rivas is batting .440 (11-25), with five runs scored, three doubles and two RBI. This homestand he is batting .429 (9-21), with four runs scored, two doubles, and two RBI.
