Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons host the Syracuse Chiefs in a doubleheader from Dunn Tire Park (6:05 p.m.). The Herd leads the five-game in four-day series, 2-1. On the mound for Buffalo will be RHP Sean Smith and LHP Eric DuBose. VS. SYRACUSE: The Bisons are 5-3 in the 8 games against Syracuse this season, including 3-1 at home. As a team, the Herd is hitting .307 against Chiefs' pitching.
LET'S PLAY TWO: The Bisons are 6-4 in doubleheaders this season, including sweeps on April 15 in Columbus and June 20 against Louisville. The Herd also took two games on May 5 against Pawtucket that included the completion of a suspended game.
MEET MR. SMITH: RHP Sean Smith is the Bisons leader in wins (8), innings pitched (97.2) and strikeouts (61). In his last five starts, he is 3-1 with a 3.82ERA. At home this year, Smith is 4-2 with a 3.59ERA in seven games and six starts.
DOUBLE DUTY: Ryan Mulhern collected two doubles yesterday. His 28 doubles on the season lead the team. (4th in the IL). At this pace, Mulhern would hit 41 doubles this year. Jhonny Peralta holds the Modern Era record with 44 doubles in 2004.
THRUWAY CUP: The Bisons lead the 2007 Thruway Cup Series. The Herd (10-6) is 2.5 games up on second place Rochester (7-8). Syracuse (6-9) is in third place, 3.5 games back. Buffalo is looking for their sixth cup win in the last eight years.
