TODAY'S GAME: Following the completion of yesterday's suspended game, the clubs will meet in today's regularly scheduled game; the fourth of a four-game series and the sixth of 12 meetings; the fourth of six at The Diamond. The Braves are 2-2 vs. the Mud Hens, 1-1 at home. The Braves are 389-327 all-time vs. the Mud Hens. It is the 32nd of 48 games vs. West Division clubs and the 12th of 24 at home. Richmond is 17-13 vs. the West, 6-4 at home. Game six of an 11 game, 10 day homestand (Richmond is 2-2). The Braves are in first place in the South Division by two games over Durham.
PICKING UP WHERE WE LEFT OFF: The Mud Hens will come to bat in the top of the sixth inning with a 6-0 lead. Erick Almonte will lead off the sixth for the Mud Hens. Toledo batted around in the top of the first, scoring five runs on just two hits. Jack Hannahan singled a run home, Dane Sardinha knocked in a run with a single, Erick Almonte produced a run with a sacrifice fly, David Espinosa drew a bases-loaded walk, and a run scored on a throwing error. The Hens tacked on a run in the third on an RBI single by Almonte. Mud Hens starter Anastacio Martinez allowed two hits in five innings. Braves catcher Corky Miller was ejected from the game in the second inning. Jeff Bennett worked two and two-thirds scoreless innings of relief for the Braves.
ROSTER MOVES: RHP Kyle Davies joined the Braves from Atlanta. Davies was assigned to the Richmond roster out of spring training but was re-called to Atlanta before Richmond broke camp. Davies was 4-8 5.76 in 17 starts with Atlanta. To make room for Davies, RHP Ryan Baerlocher was placed on the DL. The Braves have made 76 roster moves this season.
RE-STARTS: The Braves are playing their third suspended game of the season, their second at home. They are 2-0 in suspended games this season. Today's action does not count statistically as a double-header and the regularly scheduled game is slated for nine innings
ON THE LEADER BOARD: The Braves lead the IL in ERA (3.57), shutouts (11), and fewest home runs allowed (61). Richmond is second in steals (100). Martin Prado is tied for second in the league in hitting (.322). Gregor Blanco is third in runs scored (61). Richmond leads the league in fielding percentage (.984) and has the fewest errors (58). Martin Prado has committed only one error in 301 chances in 62 games at second base. The Braves have the best road record in the IL (32-21). Corky Miller leads IL catchers in fielding percentage (.995). Richmond leads the IL in percentage of opposing runners thrown out trying to steal (57-125 .456). Corky Miller leads the league's catchers caught stealing percentage (34-72 .472). Iker Franco has thrown out 50% of the runners attempting to steal on him (18-36) but has not played in enough games to qualify for the league lead.
OF STREAKS AND MEN: Martin Prado's club season high 13 game hitting steak ended Saturday. Brent Lillibridge has hits in four straight games (7-16 .438). Corky Miller has hits in three straight (5-10 .500). Pete Orr's five game hitting streak ended Saturday.
PAID BY THE HOUR?: The Braves and Mud Hens have played back to back threehour- plus games. Yesterday's contest was at 1:49 for five innings when the game was suspended. The Braves are averaging a game time of 3:08 for their eight home games in July. Six of the eight games have taken 2:54 or longer. Four of the eight July game times have been 3:27 or longer.
A TIGHT RACE: The Braves lead in the South is down to two games. Richmond has led by at least two games every day since April 17. The Braves had a 10 game lead on May 19. The Braves have led the South every day since April 11.
