Bisons Game Notes
July 19, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Charlotte Knights in the final game of a four-game set from Knights Stadium (7:15 p.m.). The Herd trails Charlotte, 0-3, in the series and is now 2-5 in their eight-game roadtrip. On the mound tonight will be RHP Adam Miller. The hard-throwing righty did not earn a decision against Durham on Saturday after allowing five earned runs in 2.2 innings of work. The Knights will counter with LHP Heath Phillips.
VS. THE KNIGHTS: This is the Bisons first series of the season against Charlotte. The Knights won seven of the eight games played last year. Last night's victory gave Charlotte the 39-36 edge in the series since the Bisons rejoined the International League. It's the only losing record the Herd has against a team in the IL since 1998.
AVOID THE BROOM: Trailing Charlotte 0-3, the Bisons will need a win tonight to avoid their first series sweep of the season. Buffalo is one of only two teams (Louisville) in the International League that have yet to be swept in a series this year. Both teams face losing that distinction tonight (the Bats host Durham trailing a four-game series, 0-3).
AVOID THE LOSS: After last nights 3-2 loss in extra innings, the Herd lost their first series in over a month. The Herd lost 4 of 6 games played in Richmond, June 9-12. From then until yesterday, the team had collected three series wins and three series splits. This was just the fourth series loss Buffalo has had all season (8 Wins, 13 Splits).
HOMER ROAD: Last night, catcher Mike Rose hit his third home run of the season. All of Rose's home runs have come on the road. One of those blasts was 10-inning game-winner against Rochester on July 1. On the season, 49 of Buffalo 87 home runs have come away from Dunn Tire Park.
SMOOTH CRIMINALS: With Luis Rivas' 12th stolen base last night he joins Brad Snyder and Trent Durrington for a three-way tie for second on the team. Snyder is a perfect 12 for 12 in stolen base attempts while Durrington is 12-14 and Rivas is 12-18. Combines the three are 36 for 44, an 82% success rate. Ben Francisco leads the team with 15 stolen bases.
