Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Scranton/WB Yankees in the second game of a four-game series from PNC Field (7:00 p.m.). Prior to last night's rainout, the Yanks took game one of the series, 5-0, on Tuesday. Looking to even things up, the Herd will turn to LHP Eric DuBose. The southpaw worked a season-high seven innings in a victory over Louisville last Thursday. Scranton/WB will counter with RHP Tyler Clippard.
NORTHERN LEADERS: The Bisons have been in first place in the IL North division since May 5 (55 consecutive days). Sole possession of the top spot is on the line tonight as Scranton/WB is just a game back of the Herd.
VS. THE YANKS: The Bisons are 2-3 against the Yankees this season, having split a four-game series back at Dunn Tire Park, June 5-8. Since rejoining the International League in 1998, Buffalo has a 10-game lead over Scranton/WB (79-69).
STARTING STRONG: LHP Eric DuBose is coming off his best outing as a Bisons pitcher. He worked seven innings and allowed just one run on nine hits last Thursday against Louisville (3K). DuBose began the season with Colorado Springs going 0-3 with a 7.83ERA but is a perfect 2-0 with a 2.65ERA in his three starts with the Herd.
ALL-STARS: The International League selected infielders Ryan Mulhern and Luis Rivas as 2007 All-Stars yesterday. Mulhern is hitting .308 with a team-high 11HR and 42RBI. Rivas has hit .263 with 8HR and 33RBI so far this season. The players will be joined by manager Torey Lovullo, who was named as an All-Star coach last month.
RARE ZERO: Tuesday marked only the second time the Bisons have been shutout this year. The Herd lost 6-0 to Indianapolis on May 19. Richmond is the only other team that has just two shutouts against them. Buffalo is 3rd in the league in runs scored (362) and team batting average (.265). Buffalo's eight shutouts thrown are T2nd behind the Braves' 10.
SMOOTH CRIMINALS: Outfielder Brad Snyder stole his eighth base of the year Tuesday night and remains perfect in swiping bags. Trent Durrington is also a perfect 10-10. As a team, the Bisons have 77 stolen bases in 112 attempts for a 68.8% success rate. The 77 stolen bases are 4th in the International League.
