Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees News Release

In what is sure to be one of the most fun-filled and action-packed home stands of the year, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees will play seven games in five days, introduce a new mascot and offer a variety of enticements for fans of all ages.

The home stand will kick off with a sold-out Independence Day doubleheader featuring two seven-inning games against the Pawtucket Red Sox. Game one is scheduled for 5:30, while the first pitch of the nightcap will be thrown approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the opener. The Yankees will wear special patriotic jerseys that will be auctioned off through the fifth inning of the 2nd game on the lower level concourse. Proceeds will benefit the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees' Kids Night Out Program. At the conclusion of the second game, fans will also be treated to the best fireworks show in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

On Thursday, July 5, those in attendance will be the first to get a glimpse of the Yankees' new mascot. To celebrate the unveiling, the team has announced another huge post-game fireworks show set for blast off at the conclusion of the 7 p.m. game.

Fans will have a chance to see the sky light up at Friday's game as well, as the team has announced an unprecedented third consecutive post-game fireworks show. The Yankees will square off against the Ottawa Lynx, the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, in a 7 p.m. tilt.

Saturday will mark a landmark event, as the first day/night doubleheader in franchise history will take place when the Yankees take on Ottawa. Game one will start at 1:30 p.m and game two will begin at 7 p.m. The doubleheader was necessitated by a rainout on April 25 against the Lynx. Anyone holding tickets to the April 25 postponed game against Ottawa may redeem that ticket(s) for the 1st (1:30) game. Fans simply need to bring their April 25 ticket on July 7 (G1) to gain admission. Fans must hold two separate tickets for these games to gain admission to both. Between games, fans will be entertained at PNC Field by live music and a bounce house for children.

The team has also joined forces with the Pennsylvania 200 to promote major sporting events in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Each fan that buys a ticket to the 1:30 p.m. game will receive a grandstand ticket to the Pennsylvania 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series race on Saturday, August 4 at no additional charge. The retail value of each grandstand ticket is $20.

To close out the home stand, the start time for Sunday's game has been changed from 5 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Anyone holding a ticket for Sunday needs to be aware that the game starts at 1:30 so as to allow the players extra time to travel during the All-Star Break, which runs from July 9-11.

Tickets still remain for all games, except July 4, as well as other Yankees home games. They can be purchased online at swbyankees.com, www.ticketmaster.com, in person at the PNC Field Box Office, by calling (570)-693-4100 or at local Ticketmaster outlets.

The PNC Field Box Office is open 10-5 Monday through Friday, 10-4 on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to the end of the game on game days.
