BUFFALO BISONS
ALL-STAR INFIELD: Half of the Bisons starting infield will find itself in Albuquerque for this summer's Triple-A All-Star Game. First baseman Ryan Mulhern and middle infielder Luis Rivas were selected to the team yesterday. Mulhern leads the active roster in almost every offensive category including batting average (.308, 14th in the IL), home runs (11, T-6th in the IL) RBI (42, 12th in the IL), doubles (22, T-4th in IL) and slugging percentage (.536, 4th in IL). The slick-fielding Rivas has hit .263 with 8 HR and 33 RBI. His 10 stolen bases are tied for the most on the active roster. He's also 2nd on the active roster in runs scored (36), triples (3) and extra-base hits (22).
MILLER TIME RETURNS: Pitcher Adam Miller returned to the active roster after missing more than a month. The Indians #1 prospect has been out since May 12 with a bruised ligament in the middle finger of his pitching hand. On Monday, Miller used just 10 pitches to pitch a perfect inning. He's expected to throw a few more games out of the bullpen before returning to the starting rotation.
THE LAUGHS KEEP COMING: Pitcher Aaron Laffey just continues to dominate opponents this month. In five games in June, the southpaw is 5-0 with a 0.82 ERA. He's allowed just three earned runs on 24 hits in 33.0 innings this month. He's also posted 29 strikeouts to only four walks. After spending the first month of the season at Double-A Akron, Laffey now has nine wins for 2007; two more than any other pitcher in Cleveland's minor league system.
CHARLOTTE KNIGHTS
FLOYD NAMED TO ALL-STAR TEAM: Charlotte Knights starting pitcher Gavin Floyd has been named to the International League All-Star Team and will take part in the Triple-A All-Star Game July 11th in Albuquerque. Floyd has been the leader of the team's pitching staff going 6-3 with a 3.07 ERA. His 74 strikeouts are good for 6th in the IL. Floyd pitched Tuesday night at Syracuse where he earned his sixth victory of the season and helped the Knights get a 4-1 victory. Floyd, 24, has also participated in the Florida State League All-Star Game in 2003 while playing for the Clearwater Thrashers, and also in the Major League Baseball Futures Game in 2003 and 2004 while in the Philadelphia Phillies organization. This will be his first appearance in the Triple-A All-Star Game. Floyd has made 14 starts for the Knights in 2007 with opponents hitting .249 against the right hander. He was acquired by the Chicago White Sox in an offseason trade with the Phillies. He was optioned to Charlotte on March 28 and has spent the entire season with the Knights. Floyd is the only Knights player on the IL All-Star Team.
LOCAL BOY JOINS TEAM: Charlotte native and resident Jake Robbins has joined the Knights. Robbins will pitch out of the Knights bullpen. He spent the 2006 season with the Louisville Bats and retired after the season. However, Robbins is friends with Knights DH Ernie Young and previously played for pitching coach Juan Nieves in the New York Yankees organization. All that, plus the chance to play in your hometown was too much to resist for Robbins, who made his first appearance with the Knights on June 25 and pitched a scoreless inning.
TIDBITS: Knights fans would certainly like to see the team continue to bring up young talent from Double-A. Outfielder Jason Bourgeois (.295, 6 stolen bases), second baseman Danny Richar (.364, 3 triples) and Carlos Vasquez (1-0, 2.53 ERA) have all been great additions to the team...Pitcher Andrew Sisco is looking to make a move into the starting rotation. Sisco began the season with the White Sox as a reliever.
COLUMBUS CLIPPERS
AN UNCONVENTIONAL NO-NO: Reliever Winston Abreu already has a 9.0 inning stretch this year where he tallied 21 strikeouts (April 27-May 5). Now, over his last six appearances he has thrown 9.0 innings without allowing a hit while notching 20 strikeouts. Overall Abreu has retired 30 straight batters without surrendering a base hit. During the stretch, Abreu has let just four runners reach base and has struck out 22 in 10.0 innings, including striking out four in an inning on June 27 versus Indianapolis.
BOOKER IN THE BOOKS: Last night Chris Booker notched his 21st save, already the 6th highest single season total in Clippers history (tied with Jose Veras, 2006 and Rick Anderson, 1979). Next up on the list is Kurt Kauffman, who had 25 saves in 1983. Booker's 21 saves also ties him for 9th all-time in Clippers history with four other pitchers and puts him two behind Mark Silva for 8th place. Columbus has now had a closer with at least 20 saves for the second year in a row after having a five year drought from 2001-05. Yesterday, Booker was named as the lone Clippers representative for the Triple-A All-Star Game. He is the first Clipper closer to be selected to the game since Sam Marsonek made the All-Star team twice (2003-04). Marsonek appeared in the game in 2003, picking up the win and the game's Most Valuable Pitcher award, but did not play in the game in 2004 due to his promotion to the Yankees.
KEEPIN' IT CLOSE: With Sunday's and Monday's 1-run victories over Ottawa, the Clippers improved their record to 14-19 in games decided by a run, with their 33 1-run games leading the League. Their 19 losses also lead the League. Last season the Clippers finished tied for 2nd in the IL with 46 games decided by a run (25-21), including a stretch of nine losses in a row.
DURHAM BULLS
HIGH POINT NO LONGER: On Monday the Bulls hit a high-water mark this year, improving to 41-38. The Bulls had not been two over .500 until this week. Their three-game win streak was snapped yesterday in a 10-4 loss to Rochester. Durham still is 34-25 (.576) after a 7-14 start.
HOMER HAPPY: Jorge Velandia homered yesterday, giving Durham 86 to lead the International League. Justin Ruggiano, Chris Richard and Joel Guzman each have 11 to lead the team.
HITTING THEIR STRIDE: The Bulls had 11 hits yesterday. That's six straight games with at least 10 hits against the top two pitching teams in the League, Richmond and Rochester. Durham has 68 hits in the six-game stretch.
IN THE PEN: Jon Switzer has allowed just one run for Durham in 15 appearances. He now has a 0.47 ERA for the Bulls. Seth McClung now has pitched scoreless ball over five straight appearances, covering eight innings. Since being optioned from Tampa Bay, Chad Orvella has pitched seven times for Durham, and has worked 7.2 scoreless innings. Orvella has allowed just one hit and two walks, while striking out nine. Orvella also has picked up four saves.
HOME SWEET HOME: Durham is 9-5 in a stretch of 16 of 20 at home. Despite all the home games, it's a tough stretch, as all games involve a team with a winning record. The only game the Bulls have remaining before the All-Star break that involves a club with a sub-.500 mark is Charlotte on the 4th of July.
GUZMAN GOING GOOD: Joel Guzman was 2-5 with two strikeouts yesterday. He is 17-72 (.357) over his last 13 games, with hits in 12.
INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS
AN ALL-STAR TRIO: Indianapolis RHP Bryan Bullington, INF/OF Yurendell de Caster and INF Brian Bixler have been invited to the 2007 Triple-A All-Star Game, which will be played on July 11 at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque, NM. The International League's top players will face the Pacific Coast League's best in the 20th annual contest, which will be televised live on ESPN2 at 7:35 p.m. EDT.
NO. 2 IN THE WEST: Toledo (48-32) leads the International League West Division, while Indianapolis (44-34, 3.0 GB), Louisville (40-39, 7.5 GB) and Columbus (36-43, 11.5 GB) trail the leader.
SITTING AT .500 IN JUNE: The Tribe enters Thursday night's affair with a 13-13 record for the month of June. Indianapolis has not registered a sub-.500 month since going 14-16 in August of 2006.
LEADING THE LOOP: Indianapolis leads the League in team batting average (.275). The Indians also place 2nd in hits (725) and runs (381).
AMONG THE IL LEADERS: Indianapolis INF/OF Yurendell de Caster ranks among IL leaders in on-base percentage (2nd - .426), batting average (7th - .319) and walks (9th - 40). INF Brian Bixler places among League leaders in triples (1st - 8), runs (T-4th - 51), stolen bases (T-5th - 17) and on-base percentage (T-8th - .397).
SEVEN STRAIGHT FOR MATOS: Indians OF Luis Matos enters Thursday evening's tilt with a seven-game hitting streak (.357 BA, 10-28, 3 R, 3 RBI). The 28-year-old is batting .277 with two HR and 22 RBI in 61 contests this year.
HOLDING ON TO THE LEAD: The Tribe is 37-2 when leading after seven innings and 40-2 when holding an advantage after eight frames.
LOUISVILLE BATS
THREE NAMED TO ALL-STAR TEAM: Congratulations to LHP Phil Dumatrait, 1B Joey Votto and INF/OF Jeff Keppinger who were named to the IL team for the Triple-A All-Star Game yesterday. The game will be played Wednesday, July 11 at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque, NM. The three players named is the most representing a Louisville team since the 2002 season when OF Raul Gonzalez, 3B Brandon Larson, OF Kevin Witt, Manager Dave Miley and Trainer John Young attended the game at Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City, OK.
CHASING A RECORD: LHP Brian Shackelford is closing in on the franchise record of appearances by a pitcher, currently standing in 3rd place with 164 appearances. He is three appearances shy of breaking the record of 166 games held by Rich Batchelor who played for the Redbirds from 1994-97. This is Shackelford's fifth season in a Bats uniform (2003-present).
SORG TO COACH COLLEGE BALL: Jay Sorg, Louisville's first base coach from 2001-03 and 2006-07, has accepted the position as Head Baseball Coach at his alma mater, Morehead State University. Sorg played three seasons at MSU (1992-94) before being drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 15th round of the 1994 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. After a five-year stint as a player in the Reds' minor league system, he was hired by the organization as a baseball instructor in their player development area. During the next five years, he held several positions with the Reds, including: manager of the Class-A Clinton (IA) and Advanced Rookie League Billings (MT) minor league teams, hitting coach for the Class-A Rockford (IL) and Billings minor league teams, first base coach for the Bats and minor league spring training camp coordinator. Sorg led Clinton to the playoffs as the youngest professional manager (26) in the nation. He managed Billings to the Pioneer League Championship.
THREE DOWN ON REHAB: LHP Bill Bray joined Louisville on a Major League rehab assignment yesterday. Bray has been on the Reds disabled list since the beginning of the season with a hairline fracture on the index finger of his pitching hand. He has made two appearances with Class-A Sarasota this season on rehab appearances, pitching two separates scoreless innings. Bray joins OF Ryan Freel and RHP Jared Burton as players on ML rehab assignment with Louisville.
NORFOLK TIDES
HEY NOW, THEY'RE AN ALL-STAR: Catcher J.R. House and reliever Cory Doyne have both been elected to the International League All-Star team. House, who is hitting .300 with six home runs and 46 RBI, will be the starting catcher in the contest, and he will be the 4th Tides' catcher to appear in the Triple-A All-Star Game, joining Todd Hundley (1991), Vance Wilson (2000 and 2001) and Jason Phillips (2002). The 27-year-old backstop is currently tied for 2nd in the IL with 86 base hits (the 86 hits is also tied for the most among all Orioles' minor leaguers) and he is 6th in the IL with 46 RBI. Doyne has 22 saves in 23 chances, a total that leads the IL and is 3rd in all of Minor League Baseball. The 25-year-old right-hander is already 3rd on the Tides' list for most saves in a season, trailing only Derek Wallace (26 in 1996) and Oscar Henriquez (23 in 1999) on the franchise list. Since May 5, Doyne has gone 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 17 saves in 22 games, and he has not allowed a run over his last 24.1 innings pitched. The scoreless innings streak is just 2.1 innings shy of the Tides' franchise record of 26.2 consecutive scoreless frames, set by reliever Royce Ring in 2006.
THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT: Tides' starter Garrett Olson has been chosen to participate in 9th annual Futures Game, which will be played on Sunday, July 8, in San Francisco. Olson is 6-6 with a 3.71 ERA this season, and he leads the International League with 97.0 innings pitched and is 2nd in the Orioles system with 84 strikeouts. Olson will be playing for the United States Team in the contest, while another Baltimore prospect, Pedro Beato, was chosen for the World Team's roster.
OTTAWA LYNX
JARAMILLO CATCHES A RIDE TO ALBUQUERQUE: Lynx catcher Jason Jaramillo was selected to the International League All-Star team. Jaramillo, 24, is hitting .268 with 4 HR and 34 RBI. His four dingers are tied for 2nd-most on the Lynx and he sits 3rd among Lynx players in runs batted in. He also leads the team with three triples. Jaramillo has also thrown out 28% of potential base-stealers, good for 8th in the International League. He was also named the Phillies Minor League Player of the Week for the week ending April 22. The young catcher joins Lynx Manager John Russell, who was announced as the IL squad's skipper May 30. The roster includes 28 players from all 14 IL clubs.
LYNX BATS HEAT UP WITH THE WEATHER: The Lynx may have hit the fewest home runs in the International League this season (25), but 16 of those dingers have come in the month of June. Gary Burnham, Brennan King and Pedro Swann all lead the way with four homers apiece this month. The team on a whole is hitting .275 this month, trailing only Toledo.
TRANSACTIONS IN ACTION: The Lynx welcomed 1B Randy Ruiz to Ottawa for the first time this week and welcomed back RHP Ryan Cameron. INF Joey Hammond was sent to Double-A Reading. Ruiz, 29, combined for a .320 average with 10 HR and 44 RBI in 69 games with Altoona and Reading of the Double-A Eastern League this season. Cameron, 29, had no record and a 3.38 ERA in three appearances with the Lynx earlier this season. He is 0-1 with one save and a 6.37 ERA in 19 games with the R-Phils this season.
PAWTUCKET RED SOX
A THREE STAR RATING: The Pawtucket Red Sox placed three players on the 2007 International League All-Star team as outfielder Brandon Moss was elected as a starter while lefty reliever Craig Breslow and righty reliever Travis Hughes were selected to the team as well.
Brandon Moss, 23, has made a large impact in his first season at the Triple-A level. He is currently hitting .294 while playing in all 76 PawSox games this season (most in RF) with team-highs of 13 HR (5th in the League) and 54 RBI (4th in the IL). He is also 2nd in the IL with 26 doubles, 2nd with 40 extra-base hits, and is 5th in the League with a .532 slugging pct. Moss, a Georgia native, was selected by Boston in the 8th round of the 2002 draft out of Loganville (GA) High School. Brandon was the MVP of the Eastern League Championship series last September when he led Double-A Portland to the title by hitting .361 with 5 HR & 10 RBI in 9 post-season games.
Craig Breslow, 26, has been among the top relievers in the League for most of the season and heading into play on June 28 he was 1-1 with 1 SV and a 1.59 ERA in 25 relief appearances for the PawSox. In 39.2 innings he has allowed just 30 hits (opponents hitting .208 against him) with only 9 walks and 48 strikeouts (10.9 SO/9 IP). Breslow, a native of Trumbull, CT, was signed by the Red Sox as a minor league free agent in February of 2006. He made his Major League debut with San Diego in 2005 and had three different stints with the Boston Red Sox last season (going 0-2, 3.75 in 13 RA). A molecular biophysics and biochemistry major at Yale University (2002 graduate), he was selected to the 2006 IL All-Star team but did not pitch in the All-Star Game at Toledo because he was being promoted to Boston the next day (July 12).
Travis Hughes, 29, has also been brilliant out of the PawSox bullpen this year going 4-3 with a 1.31 ERA along with a team-high 7 saves in 30 relief appearances. His line is 41.1 IP with just 25 hits allowed (opponents batting .179) with only 2 HRA and 35 strikeouts. He took over as PawSox closer at the end of May after posting a scoreless streak of 17 consecutive innings from May 9-28. Hughes, the former Washington National who made 22 relief appearances for the Nationals the last two seasons, was originally drafted by Texas in 1997 and pitched for the Rangers briefly in 2004. He was signed by the Red Sox as a free agent last December.
Some other notable PawSox players who have appeared in the Triple-A All-Star Game since the event began in 1988 include: INF Tim Naehring (1990), 3B Scott Cooper & OF Phil Plantier (1991), Brian Rose (1997), Trot Nixon (1998), Tomo Ohka (2000), and RHP Bronson Arroyo (2003).
PAW-PRINTS: The PawSox have lost 9 of their last 11 games and after starting the month of June with an 11-4 record they are now 13-13 in June with just three games remaining. They must go at least 2-1 in those three to post their first winning month of the season (after a 9-13 April and an 11-17 May)....The PawSox have lost 13 games this month and in 12 of those 13 defeats they have scored 3 runs or less in the game (0 runs twice, 1 run twice, 2 runs once, and 3 runs seven times). The only exception was their 12-7 loss in Louisville on Monday night. The PawSox have scored 3 runs or less in 40 games this season (going 7-33 in those) compared to more than 3 runs in 36 games total (going 26-10 in those).
RICHMOND BRAVES
ALL STAR BRAVES: The Braves will be represented at the Triple-A All Star Game in Albuquerque by RHP Manny Acosta. He is the club leader in saves with nine and has a 1.61 ERA in 29 games. He is not the only R-Brave who will be busy over the All Star Break. INF Brent Lillibridge has been picked to play for the United States squad in the MLB Futures Game. R-Braves manager Dave Brundage is on the U.S. coaching staff for the Futures Game and pitching coach Guy Hansen will handle the same role for the World squad at the Futures Game.
ROAD WARRIORS: The Braves have the IL's best road record (27-14 .658). At home Richmond is 18-18. The Braves are one of three IL clubs with better records on the road than at home (joining Buffalo and Pawtucket). Richmond is hitting .277 on the road and .240 at home. The Braves are in a stretch in which they play 22 of 30 games on the road. The Braves have won six of their last seven road games.
STRONG ARMING: The Braves collected their 21st outfield assist of the season yesterday. Richmond had 21 all of last season. The Braves have three of the 21 outfielders in the IL with four or more assists this season (T.J. Bohn with six, Gregor Blanco with five, and Doug Clark with four). The Braves lead the League in percentage of opponents caught stealing (48-103 .466). Corky Miller leads the League's catchers in caught stealing percentage (30-60 .500).
ROCHESTER RED WINGS
SHOW ME SOME LOVE: RHP Nick Blackburn has yet to win IL Pitcher-of-the-Week honors but it's not because his numbers aren't good enough. Blackburn has a 4-0 record with a 0.00 ERA in his last four starts. In 32.0 innings of work, Blackburn has allowed three unearned runs on 21 hits while walking one and striking out 19. Blackburn put together back-to-back complete-game shutouts June 8 and June 14 (first time a Red Wings pitcher has done that since LHP Rick Krivda in 1997) and hasn't allowed an earned run in his last 34.0 innings.
YOU HAVE TO EARN IT!: The Red Wings pitching staff has allowed the fewest base on balls (184) in the International League this season (Norfolk is 2nd with 226). The last time Rochester led the International League in fewest walks allowed was 1995.
ORIOLES/TWINS CONNECTION: On Tuesday outfielder Darnell McDonald, who was traded to Rochester on Monday, (2001 & 2002 Orioles) became only the fifth player to play for Rochester during both the Orioles and Twins affiliations. Infielder David Lamb (1998 Orioles & 2003 Twins), RHP Everett Stull (1998 Orioles & 2003 Twins), infielder Augie Ojeda (1997 & 1999 Orioles, 2004 & 2005 Twins), and infielder/outfielder Ryan McGuire (2002 Orioles & 2003 Twins) are the others.
CLIMBING THE CHARTS: Outfielder/First baseman Garrett Jones entered the 2007 season with back-to-back seasons with 20 or more home runs. He's the first Wings player to accomplish this since Don Baylor in 1970 and 1971. If he can hit 20 or more home runs this season he would become the first Rochester player to have three consecutive seasons with 20 or more home runs in team history. Jones, who has 11 home runs on the season, has 56 home runs as a Red Wing and is just 10 shy of tying Luke Easter and John Valle for 9th (66 home runs) on the Red Wings all-time home run list.
SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE YANKEES
TWO MORE YANKEES NAMED ALL-STARS: SWB Athletic Trainer Darren London got the nod a few weeks ago to be a part of the International League team at the 2007 All-Star Game, and now two more Yankees will be joining him. 1B/OF Shelley Duncan and RHP Jim Brower will make their way to Albuquerque, NM for the Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 11 at Isotopes Park. Duncan is currently 2nd in home runs (19) and slugging (.585) and 3rd in RBI (58) among all International League hitters. He also leads SWB in runs, hits, doubles, home runs, RBI, slugging and walks. Brower has converted 13 saves for SWB and has compiled a 3-0 record to go along with his 2.08 ERA. The righty has been especially great in his last seven outings, during which he has allowed no runs and just three hits while whiffing eight in 7.2 innings of work. In those seven games, he is 1-0 with six saves.
30.2 AND COUNTING: The performances by the Yankees' hurlers in the last few games can only be described as dominating. With a third straight shutout (the Yankees blanked Syracuse 8-0 on Sunday and 4-0 on Monday as well), the pitching staff has not allowed a run in 30.2 innings, a franchise record, that started in the 6th inning on Saturday night. By recording the third out in the Buffalo half of the 4th, RHP Matt DeSalvo took the Yankees past the previous scoreless-innings mark of 25.1, set twice by the Red Barons from July 18-21 in 1989 and again from August 10-13 in 2001. The three quality starts by LHP Chase Wright, RHP Steven White and DeSalvo have eaten up most of those innings, but the bullpen shouldn't be overlooked, either. RHP Edwar Ramirez, RHP Jim Brower and RHP Chris Britton have combined to throw six of those innings and have allowed just three total hits while whiffing eight batters.
YANKEE DOODLES: The Yankees have not made an error in their last seven games......INF Juan Francia's eight-game hitting streak came to an end on Tuesday night, but only because of an extraordinary effort in the speedster's last at-bat. Buffalo CF Jonathan Van Every robbed Francia with a diving catch on a tailing liner to right-center field in the 8th inning......Sitting 1.0 game back in the International League's North division, a win tonight would put the Yankees in a tie for 1st place with Buffalo. SWB has not been in 1st place all season..
SYRACUSE CHIEFS
HEY NOW YOU'RE AN ALL-STAR: Chiefs OF John-Ford Griffin found out before Wednesday's game versus Charlotte that he had made the IL All-Star Team. Griffin then went out against the Knights and blasted his 15th home run of the season deep to right field in the 3rd inning. In the past week the Florida State product hit three home runs and added two doubles, making it five of six hits going for extra bases. Griffin is the Chiefs' lone representative to head to Albuquerque for the Triple-A All-Star Game.
A DEBUT...: It's been a year full of excitement for Chiefs RHP Jesse Litsch. The third-year pro opened up the year in Double-A New Hampshire with five wins in his first six starts and earned his first promotion to Toronto. Litsch won his debut in the Major Leagues and made four starts with the Blue Jays before heading back to Double-A. This past week Litsch earned another promotion, this one to Syracuse. The right-hander won his first start at Triple-A with seven strong innings scattering seven hits and two runs at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre June 23. Litsch is scheduled to make his second start for Syracuse tonight against Charlotte.
...AND A TURNAROUND: RHP Victor Zambrano won his first start in five tries by giving up just two hits over seven innings June 27 at home against Charlotte. Zambrano had, by far, his best start with the Chiefs. The Major League rehabber lasted the most innings (7.0), gave up the fewest hits (2), the fewest runs (2) and recorded the most strikeouts (8) of any of his Triple-A starts this season. In his previous start Zambrano went just 3.2 innings while giving up seven runs.
A PAIR OF HEAVYWEIGHTS AT ALLIANCE BANK STADIUM: The only two members of the active 1,000 Minor League runs batted in club are going toe to toe in Syracuse. Chiefs OF Chad Mottola (1,004) and Knights 1B/DH Ernie Young (1,124) meet during the current four-game series between Syracuse and Charlotte.
TOLEDO MUD HENS
BEST IN THE WEST: The Hens have had a sensational month of June, taking 1st place in the IL West. In the month of June, Toledo has the best record in the IL going 19-7 with the highest batting average for the month at .293. The Hens have not lost a series in June, tying with Buffalo and Norfolk and winning a series against Ottawa and two against Syracuse. The Hens most recently swept the former IL West leaders, the Indianapolis Indians, in a four-game series at Fifth Third Field.
MR. RBI: It's no secret that Mike Hessman has been having an incredible season. Hessman leads the IL in home runs (23), extra-base hits (45) and RBI (76). In fact, Hessman's 76 RBI leads all of Minor League Baseball. The only person in professional baseball who has more RBI than Hessman this season is New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez, who has 77 RBI.
3,000,000TH FAN: The overall attendance in the history of Fifth Third Field surpassed three million on Sunday, June 24. The Mud Hens are on pace to set another attendance record for 2007. Through 38 home games this season, 283,845 fans have passed through the gates of Fifth Third Field. In 2005, the Hens welcomed their two millionth fan into the park and on August 7, 2003, the Hens surpassed an overall attendance of one million.
HOT HITTING HANNAHAN: 2B/DH Jack Hannahan is hitting ..406 during the month of June with an astonishing on-base percentage of .546. On the season, Hannahan's .322 batting average ranks him 6th in the IL. On the season, Hannahan has eight home runs and 43 RBI in 63 games with the Hens.
