Buffalo Bisons News Release

TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Rochester Red Wings in the second game of a three-game set at Frontier Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd struck first in the series with last night's 8-7 victory. The Bisons have gone 3-4 so far on their season-long nine-game roadtrip that has already stopped at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Pawtucket. On Tuesday, the Bisons return to Buffalo for their final four home games of the season.

vs. THE WINGS: The Bisons are 5-7 against their closest rivals so far this season. That record does include an even 3-3 mark at Frontier Field. The Herd has not won a series against Rochester in 2009, earning just one split of a four-game set at Frontier Field, July 4-6. Dating back to last season, the Bisons are just 6-16 in their last 22 games against the Red Wings.

ROSTER MOVE: RHP Jose Sanchez will make his Triple-A debut tonight after his promotion from St. Lucie (A) today. Sanchez began the year at Binghamton (AA), where he was 1-6 with a 6.88ERA in 10 starts. The 25-year old has made 66 career appearances at the Double-A level in the past three seasons, all with the B-Mets. Sanchez was 13-7 with a 3.83ERA in 29 games and 26 starts with Binghamton in 2008.

MOUND WORK: Bisons starting pitchers continued their strong stretch of work as LHP Adam Pettyjohn earned the win last night. In the team's last 11 games, the rotation has combined to post a 2.45ERA. Herd starters have allowed just 17 runs in 62.1 innings with 42 strikeouts to only 13 walks.

BALANCED ATTACK: The Bisons 8-7 victory last night included a hit by seven different hitters, a run scored by seven different players and an RBI from six different batters. C Robinson Cancel had three hits last night and has now hit .455 (10-22) in seven games against the Red Wings this season.

THE HIT-MAN: The International League hit competition continues to be a two-man race. Both OF Jesus Feliciano and Gwinnett's INF Barbaro Canizares got a hit last night. That means Canizares kept his one-hit lead, 140-139. Feliciano's hit extended his hit streak to eight as he has averaged .406 (13-32) since August 21.

MEET THE METS: The New York Mets' (58-71) lost to the Cubs in Chicago yesterday, 5-2. Former Bisons LHP Pat Misch allowed just one run in seven innings but Cubs scored four in the bottom of the eighth inning for the win. Former Bisons OF Angel Pagan had two hits while C Omir Santos drove in one of New York's two runs. The Mets take on the Cubs again today at 4:10 p.m.
