Today's Game

This evening, the Bisons take on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in game three of their four game set at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA (7:05 p.m.). After Sunday afternoon's finale with the IronPigs, the Herd heads to Rhode Island to taken on the Pawtucket Red Sox for a three game series. Then Buffalo will return to Coca-Cola Field following a scheduled off day to begin a seven game homestand on May 18.

Last Game: LHV 3, BUF 0

LHP Ryan Borucki worked six innings for the Herd, giving up a three-run home run to OF Collin Cowgill in the third inning. They were the only three runs of the game as Buffalo was shutout for the first time in 2018. INF/OF Darnell Sweeney had the lone Bisons' hit off of IronPigs' starter RHP Ben Lively. RHP Taylor Guerrieri worked two innings in relief and did not give up a hit as well.

Today's Starter: RHP Justin Dillon

RHP Justin Dillon was recalled to the Bisons to take the spot of RHP Sam Gaviglio, who was added to the Blue Jays' bullpen on Friday. Dillon made one relief appearnce with the Herd this season, tossing 2.2IP of scoreless relief on May 3 vs. Syracuse. The right hander has made six appearances with Dunedin (Adv-A), going 0-3 with a 4.43ERA. Dillon is in his first full season in professional baseball after being drafted in the 10th Round by Toronto last year.

Lehigh Valley (0-2)

The Bisons and IronPigs will play a total of 18 times this season. Following this series, the two teams will play each other again June11-13 in Lehigh Valley. The Herd then hosts the IronPigs for a three game series June 22-24 at Coca-Cola Field.

Darnell Sweeney

INF/OF Darnell Sweeney had the only hit for the Bisons on Friday night. The utility man made his second straight start for the Herd in left field, and the third start in the outfield overall for Sweeney. He has appeared in 18 games for Buffalo in 2018, with his most starts coming at short stop (7).

Tim Lopes

INF Tim Lopes failed to reach base on Friday for just the second time in 22 games this season. Lopes' batting average now sits at .357 which puts him two percentage points behind Indianapolis' Jose Osuna for the IL's top batting average.

Transactions

Prior to Friday's contest the Blue Jays recalled RHPs Sam Gaviglio and Joe Biagini from the Herd, while LHP Tim Mayza was optioned to Buffalo in a corresponding move.

Bisons Bits

The Bisons boast two of the IL's top pitchers with RHPs Sam Gavilgio and Chris Rowley ranking in top five in ERA among all qualifiers. Gaviglio sits at 1.86, while Rowley's ERA is 1.93 after his start Thursday...1B Rowdy Tellez hit Buffalo's second HR of May on Thursday, by contrast, the team hit 14 in April.

Blue Jays Update

Toronto (21-18) used a C Luke Maile walk-off home run in the 12th inning to defeat the Boston Red Sox 5-3. It was Maile's second HR of the game. RHP Sam Gaviglio recorded the win in relief as well. RHP Marco Estrada starts this afternon for the Jays against LHP David Price in game two of the three game series (4:07 p.m.).
