Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus have announced the play list for the Independence Eve Celebration concert following the Buffalo Bisons/Rochester Red Wings game on Monday, July 3 (6:05 p.m.), presented by KeyBank. In its 12th year as the premier summer event in downtown Buffalo, the BPO and Chorus will perform several military and American classics as well as tributes to American stage, cinematic and pop cultures.

"Every year, Paul Ferington and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus put on a world-class show for our fans," said Mike Buczkowski, Vice President/General Manager of the Buffalo Bisons. "This year's show looks like it will top them all."

The concert will begin with a pair of tributes to America with "Liberty Fanfare" and the sing-along, "Grand Old Flag." Next, the BPO and Chorus will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Phantom of the Opera, the 60th anniversary of the invention of the bikini (Beach Boys' "California Girls") and the 10th anniversary of the Lion King on Broadway ("Circle of Life"). "God Bless America" and the "Armed Forces Salute" will allow the fans in attendance to honor the brave men and women that are fighting to protect our freedoms both home and abroad. Finally, Independence Day classics like "Overture 1812" and "Stars and Strops Forever" will lead into the largest Fireworks Show of the season.

Tickets are still available for the Independence Eve Celebration. Fans can purchase seats by calling THE-HERD (843-4373) or by visiting the team's official website, bisons.com. An individual ticket for the game is $20, but fans can purchase a BPO 4-Pack with four tickets, four hot dogs, four soft drinks and one souvenir Bisons mini-bat for just $85.
