Bisons Add RHP Drew Carpenter from Double-A Binghamton

The Buffalo Bisons announced today that RHP DREW CARPENTER has been promoted to the Herd from Double-A Binghamton. RHP ARMANDO RODRIGUEZ has been transferred to Binghamton.

Carpenter, 27, was signed as a minor league free agent by the New York Mets on August 10, 2012. In five games with Binghamton, the righty recorded three saves and did not allow a run in 5.0 innings of work. He allowed just four hits, walked two, and struck out 10.

In 21 games (12 starts) with Triple-A Las Vegas earlier this season, Carpenter went 6-3 with a 3.38ERA and 56 strikeouts in 74.2 innings of work. He also made six relief appearances for the Toronto Blue Jays in July and posted a 5.00ERA in nine innings.

Carpenter was originally drafted in the second round of the 2006 draft by the Philadelphia Phillies.

Rodriguez made his Triple-A and Bisons debut last night. He tossed 4.1 innings of one-run baseball in a no-decision against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. In 31 games with Binghamton this season, the righty is 2-2 with a 3.04ERA and 69 strikeouts in 68.1 innings of work. He made three spot starts for the B-Mets.
