Bisons Add INF Jordany Valdespin from Binghamton

The Buffalo Bisons today announced that INF JORDANY VALDESPIN has been promoted to the Herd from Double-A Binghamton. OF JASON BOTTS has been placed on the disabled list with a right intercostal strain, retroactive to August 9.

Valdespin, 23, will be making his Triple-A debut with the Bisons. The Eastern League All-Star had spent the entire season with the Binghamton Mets thus far and averaged .297 (120-404) with 24 doubles, three home runs, 15RBI in 107 games. He also stole 33 bases in 47 attempts. He ranks 5th in the Eastern League in stolen bases, 6th in total hits (120) and 9th in batting average (.297).

Valdespin started 78 games at shortstop for Binghamton and 25 more at second base. He was first signed by the Mets as a non-drafted free agent on June 12, 2007.

Botts played just one game with the Bisons since being activated on Monday after an eight-game stint on the team's disabled list (left ankle sprain). Botts went 2-2 with a walk on August 8 in Syracuse.
