Biscuits top BayBears, 8-6, in series finale

MONTGOMERY - The Montgomery Biscuits avoided being swept by the Mobile BayBears by winning 8-6 Wednesday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Delmon Young, 4 for 4, 2 RBI, was a homer short of the cycle.

Biscuits starter Brian Lockwood earned his first win of the season and pitched well, going 5.0 innings (4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 SO). BayBears starter Sean Thompson, the loser, didn't fair well, going 3.0 innings (7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 3 SO). Biscuits closer Chad Orvella earned the save, going 2.1 innings (1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO).

Chad Orvella came in with the bases loaded and 2 outs in the seventh but allowed a 2-run single to Tagg Bozied.

Nick Trzesniak drove in a run for the BayBears in the sixth.

Delmon Young hit an RBI triple in the fourth for the Biscuits.

Greg Sain hit a 3-run homer to left in the fourth for the BayBears.

The Biscuits scored a run in the fourth on an RBI single by Johnny Raburn.

The Biscuits scored 3 runs in the second inning. Sean Thompson walked Gabriel Martinez with the bases jammed and Luis Mateo hit a 2-run single.

The Biscuits got on the board first thanks to Delmon Young's RBI single.

The Biscuits and the BayBears will begin a 3-game series in Mobile Friday. Lefty Chris Seddon (4-1, 5.45) will take the hill for the Biscuits. He will be opposed by righty Brian Whitaker (1-4, 4.78).
