Montgomery Biscuits News Release

PENSACOLA, Flo. - In what was the team's longest game of the season in terms of innings and time, the Biscuits (60-52) finally pulled away from the seemingly indefatigable Pensacola Blue Wahoos (59-51), finally securing their first win of the series, 9-5, in a marathon of a 13-inning game that lasted a whopping four hours and 46 minutes on Saturday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium.

Blake Bivens made his Double-A debut for the Butter and Blue, and fell behind early on a Taylor Featherston RBI-groundout that scored Jose Siri in the first. Thanks to a pair of Pensacola errors, the Biscuits tied the game in the second, and then took the lead in the same inning, when fellow Double-A debutante, Lucius Fox hit a sac fly to make it 2-1 Montgomery.

The Biscuits held that 2-1 lead until the fifth, when Aristedes Aquino hit a jam-shot two-run double that fell between three Biscuit defenders in right field and put Pensacola ahead, 3-2. In the seventh, Rafael De Paula came out of the bullpen for Wahoos starter, Tony Santillan, and despite striking out a pair, walked three batters and was then lifted for Robinson Leyer. The right-hander then walked Jesus Sanchez with the bases loaded to knot things up at three.

For the second-straight night, the game then eventually shifted to extra innings where the Biscuits took a 4-3 lead in the 10

th on a Brett Sullivan sac fly, before the Wahoos tied it in the same inning on a TJ Friedl RBI-single off Yoel Espinal.

In the 11th, the Biscuits retook the lead at 5-4 on Nick Solak's RBI-single, before that was canceled out by Chris Okey's RBI-single in the same inning off Brandon Lawson (3-1), who was scheduled to start Monday's series finale. The catcher's single tied things back up at five.

The Biscuits couldn't scratch across a run in the top of the 12

th against Carlos Navas (4-2), and Lawson somehow wiggled out of a bases loaded jam in the same inning, getting Luis Gonzalez to ground into an inning-ending 4-6-3 double play to move the game into the 13th.

In the top of the 13th with a man on second, Fox and Solak both grounded out, but then Nate Lowe was issued an intentional walk-his second of the game-and then Sanchez drew an unintentional walk to load the bases. Finally, on a 3-2 pitch from Navas, Jake Cronenworth bounced a two-run single into right field, and Mike Brosseau followed that up with a two-out two-run single of his own on a roller up the middle to put the game out of reach. The Wahoos did not score against Lawson for a second-consecutive extra inning in the bottom of the 13th.

The Biscuits will try to even the series at two games apiece on Sunday when Benton Moss (4-4) goes up against Daniel Wright (6-6) at 5:05 PM CT.

The Biscuits will return to Riverwalk Stadium to host the Birmingham Barons on August 8 when it will be Military Wednesday, featuring an F-35 Figurine Giveaway presented by AUM. The series also includes 'Rally in the Alley' Bar Crawl with a T-Shirt Giveaway on Thursday, August 9, Local Legends Night with MAX Fireworks on Friday, August 10, and Wrestling Night with MAX Fireworks on Saturday, August 11. The series concludes with Bark in the Park and Kids Day, featuring a Kids Baseball Giveaway, on Sunday, August 12.
