BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Biscuits (70-68, 33-35) could not figure out Chris Beck (2-2) who threw seven strong innings in a 5-1 win for the Birmingham Barons (76-62, 32-36) Saturday night at Regions Field.

Beck finished the game with only three hits allowed, one walk and three strikeouts. The only run the Biscuits scored off him came when Todd Glaesmann led off the fifth with a double. He moved to third on a fly out then scored on a dribbler from Mayo Acosta to make it a 3-1 game.

The big blow for the Barons came with Chris McMurray crushed a two-run homer of Joe Van Meter (0-4) in the fourth inning to make it 3-0. The Barons continued to tack on runs with an RBI-single from Tyler Saladino in the sixth inning and a groundout that scored a run by Keenyn Walker to make it 5-1 in the sixth.

The Biscuits were able to load the bases in the ninth inning after a hit-by-pitch, single and walk, but could not score.

Game four of the series is Sunday afternoon at 3:00. RHP Marquis Fleming will be on the hill for Montgomery while Birmingham will send LHP Spencer Arroyo to the mound.
